So Trump has whacked 3M for continuing to send supplies to regular customers outside of the US, Canada included. While I understand that he was elected on an "America first" mandate, its very disappointing. Many (most?) of masks are made in China. If China takes that same view, they would stop 3M and any other mask/ventilator maker from shipping anything out of their country. Its sad that the world has come to this, but not surprising.

3m also advised the government that this would reduce medical supplies to the US if the countries they supply masks to Canada and South America take the same approach as 3m has PPE made there that is shipped to the US from those countries.

We need to make more here in the USA
if that’s the case. My concern is here, just like every other country’s concern is there. Self reliance is a good thing.

Yup its sad. What will it take to turn it around though? Maybe as the panic stage subsides, the countries will work together better on this issue. It started out pretty cooperative, at least in North America.

I would like to suggest to the Federal government that all student loans for nurses who put themselves in the front lines treating and caring for COVID patients be forgiven.

Unless I read it wrong if you work for the federal gov't for 10 years and make your payments on time they will forgive the rest. I'm still paying my student loans and have parent plus loans in my name. My daughter called to ask about the federal student loan forgiveness they recently announced. They said if you are making your payments then the interest still applies. I guess it's only applicable if you defer your loan payments. I pay $805/month but my kids pay me their portion.

We really need to bring all the manufacturing jobs we can back to the US when this is all over.
It really is a matter of national security.
If governors and state legislators were smart, they would go out of their way to make their states friendly to manufacturing businesses.
When I was a kid growing up in NYC the City was loaded with all kinds of factories making almost anything you could reasonably imagine. Taxes, mob infiltrated labor unions, cost of living and property values squeezed them all out.

The only ones that are going to make out after all this is the lawyers. The lawsuits for perceived negligence and perceived violation of civil liberties are going to be off the charts. Courts will be tied up for years.

Why should religious services be essential? A large group in one area, you might as well let us all go back to work! Many of the older folks are already in retirement communities that are in lockdown. Everyone needs to sacrifice some of their freedoms, for now.

When I need to talk to God or say a prayer for my father or my friends here it only takes a short walk around the yard or to just go sit on my well. I'm NOT going to put myself in any more risk.

Don't put yourself at risk, your life, your families lives.

I am a member of a very large "mega" church and active in the technical production of our services. We immediately started online services only and locked the building down... Now the only thing we are still running but in a "contactless pickup" mode is our food bank. We are setting up grocery carts with pre packaged groceries, fresh veggies etc. People can simply pull up and grab the bags out of a cart. We served over 1,000 families a week.

Additionally we have a truck that goes to two different school parking lots to also distribute food... again contactless.

No need to congregate at this time!
