Thinking about going bigger

We are in the process of saving and looking for a bigger boat. I love the older boats, 1992 - maybe 96. A 1995 400EC really made my head spin. I would like to have more of a balance between room on the back of the boat and the cabin area. It seems like most of the boats have a lot of cabin room and a lot less room on the back. Is there a 40' boat with a better balance? I am also wondering why people like the flybridge style boat. Is there an advantage besides more floor space?

look at the 420/440 series from that era-1990--- 1994 if you want cockpit space AND cabin space. very close pricewise.
