This has been a brutal start to 2019, fellas

Sunny day, no ice, but cold and windy. The boat is nearly ready for launch. Not a good day to be doing outdoor activities.

SBW....if it's all the same to you would you mind changing your signature picture now? I think we've all suffered through the winter photo for long enough. It illicit's feelings of despair, sadness, impending doom.

It was really, really unsettling to see it show up in September. Now you're just rubbing it in. :)

Question on the "quest slip", do you have adequate power for two boats to run AC in the summer?

MM
Yes.

That is a great setup you put together there. I had been curious on that for a while but never asked.

We've had some pretty good sized boats stay with us. Biggest was a 55' Hatt followed by a 45' Viking which was about the same LOA as the Hatt. We don't have enough power for those boats, but they can plug in and run a battery charger and their refrigerators. Mostly they are comfortable just keeping the genny running. Seems like captains with those types of boats almost never turn their gennys off. At little different than our boating style. We use the genny, but never when running unless it is cold enough for heat or hot and we need air. If you look at the pic above you will notice what looks like a line in the snow. That is where the power to the dock runs, and it is slightly warmer there from the electrical line.

Is this more comforting?

You guys ain't getting off that easy.....the live video is where I launch. It'll be 2-3 weeks yet but that's way better than last years June 1st. The pic is in our yard, lots of snow in the woods yet.

Damn, I wish I was going in. I about 1 month out, just need the boats in front of me to splash then I get to go in.
Ya I couldn't believe I was thinking it is too soon. I just finished bottom paint and all waxing on Sunday. My wife is on board..which I was surprised.. so I guess we are going in..
I hope PIB is ready for us :)

They were launching boats last week at our club - The earliest I've seen in years. Guess they're trying to get ahead of the curve.
I think it's global warming causing climate change ... Burning fossil fuels is making us boat longer... It's just wrong.... :)

Latest I've put in was last year, June 1st and still had ice bergs to watch for. I don't mind going in early, don't mind the cool weather and some rain...it's the wind that keeps us from using the boat much until June anyway. Maybe the winds die down a little sooner for you guys farther south....do they?

Winds are never an issue for us because we have three venues for boating to choose from: Lake Michigan, Spring Lake or the Grand River. When the big lake is rough people boat on Spring Lake or the River. Winds die down in April. The big Lake is so cold now, the fisherman are the main folks who venture out there this time of year.

Good for you Woody, but I hope I'm in a couple weeks before you. Boats getting wheeled out this week and I plan on bottom painting this weekend and I'm ready. Shrink came off, canvas went up and got it washed this past weekend. Good luck

Our new aft curtain is being made and fitted this week. Should be ready to launch as soon as that work is done later this week. Snow arrives this weekend. Can't wait for summer, or what we also call the 4th of July to begin.

You can blame me for the snow this week. I did the unthinkable and "summerized" my snow blower this past weekend. I should have known better...
