Lake Michigan has risen 7" in the past 30 days according to US Corps of Engineers weekly records. We are currently 3" below 1986 for the same date in May. Will be interesting to see if 1986 records get broken.

Seasonal rise starts in the Spring around April. Snow melt run off through the basin lasts until about August and then typically levels start a slow decline. The past two years we have had the increasing levels last into the Fall which happens very occasionally. So we went into Spring the past two years with high water and lots of snow up north.

Was at the Marina today -- west side of Lake Michigan. Level is noticeably higher. Ramps to the floating docs now cover the first finger and are probably at a 20-30 deg. angle.

I heard there were carp swimming on the soccer fields at Harbor Island this weekend.

It’s crazy out there.

The Forecast is rising water levels on Lake Erie through early summer. Expected levels to be 80" above low water datum. With strong northeaster's, the levels are substantially higher

We picked up another inch of water this week in Lake Michigan/Huron and are now just 2" below the record for May which was set in 1986. Run off is still working its way into our water shed so we may break the record which is a moving target. The 1986 high water record was established in the fall when heavy daily rains caused a remarkable rise in lake levels in just 30 days. The water was only two or three inches below the wooden deck on this dock before it began its decline. In years thereafter levels gradually receded until the rise began again. We are up near record levels now. Just a few years ago we were near the record lows set in the sixties. We could walk under the dock near the rip rap without getting our feet wet back then.

Took a dinghy cruise around the marinas in GH this weekend. Amazing what the water levels have done! So many docks under water. Even in town, the water level is not much lower than the sea wall! We can just fit under the 31 bridge - going the back way by Halls. Glad I have a floating dock!

Were up the river near 231 in Grand Haven. Our dock is about 5" under water. Dont think we're going to see much of a change until late July. And even then it wont be much!
