Has anybody attached an electric winch on a trailer? Just wondering if I could attach one in my three axle trailer instead of using the hand winch. The boat is heavy enough (dry 12000Lbs, 2001 Searay 310 Sundancer).
I found one in a reasonable price from Harbor Freight Tools (http://www.harborfreight.com/9000-l...2314a&utm_source=1010&cid=mEmail_s1010_c2314a), pulling capacity 9000Lbs, remote, automatic remote brake. Of course I will have to modify the mount to sit on the trailer. I don't know if the pulling force of the electric winch could overcome the friction caused by the bunks!
Usually when I am loading the boat, she does not float up to the bow stop, it stops at about 2-3 ft away, so power loading is the only option for me. I don't like this method since I can't control the movement of the boat across the bunks (I can't go deeper because the props may hit the bottom). Do you think the electric winch should work?
