Trailering a 260DA?

Towing an 18 wheeler is no comparison to towing a boat that's twice as heavy (nearly) as the truck with simple surge brakes on the trailer. Yes a 1/2 ton will tow the boat, but the bigger brakes, chassis and drivetrain of a 3/4 or 1 ton are meant to tow the larger loads. The newer 1/2 tons are much better than the previous generations yes but if you're searching for a tow rig, bigger is better ......and safer. Stopping is cool.

I just finished trailering a 2001 260 DA from Novato California (just north of San Franciso) to Calgary, Alberta a distance of about 2400 Km. Tow vehicle was a 2010 Toyota Tundra with the 5.7. The route took us over the Sierras in California and some mountain passes in Montana.
Had absoulutely no issues with towing, tansmission and engine temperature never budged above normal and I was easily able to maintain a speed of 105-110 Km/hr all the way with the cruise control on.
Stopping the load was no problem but I do have electric/ hydraulic disk brakes and the biggest brakes on any half ton truck.
