Want to change the transmission fluid on both Hurth ZF63 iv HSW 630v Transmissions with v-drive. Any recommendations on what is the best fluid to put in. Thanks.

We have Hurth transmissions. Do not know model. Owners manual said Dextron II can not buy it so got Dextron III seems OK. Change it every 250 hours or once a season provided I put on 100+ hours.

Cant find dextron II or III was told castrol dextron VI was a replacement. Says its compatable with Dextron II and III. Anyone ever use the Dextron Vi.

you can order Dexron II or III from Amazon....that's what I did when I could not find it locally....

I believe thats the synthetic version thats compatable

I called ZF and they recommend Mobil 424 High Performance Tractor Transmission fluid

Was this for the transmissions that the menos22 asked about? I've got ZF Hurth 220a trans, and am trying to figure out which fluid to use, the local auto parts stores don't carry the few I've looked for from the list that Frank linked above. I did find the Mobil 424 online from Grainger though, so thought about ordering that.

I've got ZF 63A transmissions. Not sure about 220a. I'd call them. They were VERY helpful. I think the guy I talked to was in Florida. (Eastern Time)

Thanks tmott, that's the list I was going off of, just couldn't source the first handful of ones I checked for locally. I'll keep going through the list.

I have the 220a transmissions. I used Straight 30 from Rotella 30w - T1.

I wouldn't be too concerned with the specific brand shown as approved. Use a quality SAE rated oil
listed in one of the three classes. Rotella T1 as above is perfect as that is probably the oil you are using in the engines.
