Stopped by my boat this evening and found a bit of tree sap on the sunbrella cockpit cover and swim platform. Storage facility backs up to a forest.

Any suggestions on the best way to remove tree sap from gelcoat or sunbrella? I will be giving it a go this weekend.

Acetone will remove from fiberglass, not sure about canvas. must rewax area after using.

To remove from the Sunbrella fabric I suggest finding a can of non-flammable brake cleaner (the old fashioned, chlorinated kind). It's very similar to dry cleaning solvent. Test in an inconspicuous spot first to make sure it doesn't do any damage, then try wetting a cotton cloth with the solvent and blot the area with the tree sap.

I would start with soap and water and a stiff scrub brush before I resorted to chemicals. I get tree sap on my car every spring and am able to wash it off. It may just take some extra elbow grease.

Thankfully, soap and water did the trick! I'll have to keep the rest in mind in case it gets worse.
