Hi all...I have been investigating my trim on my new (well 1997) 190 BR and this is what I have found:
Trim Switch Position UP ----> Stern Distance from Ground = 6.5 "-----> Trim Gauge Position = 1/2 way between UP/DOWN
Trim Switch Position DOWN ----> Stern Drive Distance form Ground = 0.75" -----> Trim Gauge Position = DOWN
Trailer Switch UP -----> Stern Drive Distance from Ground = 20" ---> Trim Gauge Position UP
My confusion is:
1) Should my trim gauge say UP when I have trimmed all the way UP with the trim switch ? When I press the trim switch all the way UP untill it stops then the gauge says 1/2 way between UP and DOWN
2) Should there be more than 6" change in height when the trim has gone from fully DOWN to UP based on measuring from the ground to the bottom part of the stern drive ?
The reason I ask is because I damaged my prop yesterday because I trimmed all the way up in shallow water thinking it would up enough. I watched my depth gauge and thought we had enough clearance but we struck bottom
Any thoughs would be very helpful...thanks...JB
