I am not on Facebook so I had a friend email me the info. I'm not sure that I'll be going through the Inner Harbor as Labor Day is one of the holidays that resemble amateur hour and the IH seems to be about the size of a bathtub when there are more than 20 boats in it, but I will make the trip to Ft. McHenry.

Look up Trump Baltimore Labor Day 2020 Boat Parade Event on FB.

Below is copied from the FB page....

BOAT PARADE INFORMATION!
The general route of the boat parade will be as follows:
9:00 Miami Beach launch.
Travel through Middle River
Travel through Hart-Miller cut
Travel through Sparrows Point and Riviera Beach
11:30 Arrive at Ft. McHenry
12:00 Noon-time ceremony at Ft. McHenry
12:30 Depart Ft. McHenry to inner harbor

Stay tuned to this event page at Trump Baltimore Labor Day 2020 Boat Parade Event for more details.

I would like to remind everyone that attends that the entire stretch of water from Ft. McHenry to the Inner Harbor is a No Wake Zone. There are numerous marinas along that stretch and they (and the boats within them) get pounded when folks fly by on plane. Those of you in around Middle River know exactly how that feels! I hope all participants will be respectful of boaters that may be docked at the marinas in Baltimore.

Forget that!!!.... I've been waiting my entire boating life to go all the way up to the Inner Harbor on plane and I've got BLM to thank for finally giving me the opportunity to do so. So thank you BLM for requesting that B'more ditch the marine police and the equestrian unit. Brilliant! Next, I'm going to release some cattle on Pratt St. and watch the bicycle cops try to round them up. Best summer ever! :D

But seriously, it seems like they planned for everyone to be running at no wake most of the day. Miami beach to Ft. McHenry is about 19 miles, and they've left 2.5 hours on the schedule for it. Then, there's 4.5 hours planned for the return from Ft. McHenry back to Miami Beach. I think they're light on time on the way out, and long on time on the way back.

Surprised they going thru the cut. The wake from those Yachts regardless of speed is gonna rock the world of any small boats in the parade.

Yeah, there was a post here recently about some potential shoaling occurring in the channel. Hopefully, that was just some oddball readings on a depth sensor.

That was my post... A friend in my marina with a 340 also saw 3'6" on his sounder with offset set correctly. Stay at least 12-15' from green 3 near low tide.

Wow. I was hoping it was just an offset error!

Have fun, while y'all burning all that fuel, i will be sitting at Crazy Tuna, enjoying the holiday weather. Send a letter to the Pres, maybe he will cut you a check to cover your fuel costs for flying his flag. ;)

Isn’t burning fuel on the water sort of what boating is all about? You realize this is a boating forum, right?

I've been waiting my entire boating life to go all the way up to the Inner Harbor on plane

Speaking of which, sitting at the Crazy Tuna yesterday talking to fellow boater and watching boats flying in no wake zone on Hopkins Creek and rocking the boats at RW and CT. He commented that the Police shut down the marine unit at Martins a few years ago and there are basically no cops on the river anymore, just one DNR inflatable. Hence everybody driving like AHs cause there is no repercussions. Anybody else hear about that?

What about state or USCG? They doing anything in that area?

CG doesn’t do speed checks much. At least not in Baltimore. That was done by the City marine unit (which is no more). If the county lost their unit, I’d suspect no one is policing there either. It stinks, but people do what they want and not everyone behaves with the consideration of others in mind.

I am in the CG down south. If you guys think this is a safety concern, give some specifics. I can inform the local Sector Commander to address them before someone gets hurt or dies.

It’s a huge safety concern in Baltimore. From Ft McHenry into the Harbor it’s a no wake zone. But people fly in there, on plane, throwing big wakes. There are kayakers in there, there are marinas and boats that get slammed big time, and I’ve even been on a floating pier where we’ve had to stop walking and brace ourselves because if not we would have been thrown into the water. Someone is going to get hurt (or worse) there. In the meantime, thousands and thousands in damages occur regularly.

I just wanted to make sure that no one interpreted my comment as anything other than pure sarcasm. I think defunding the Marine police was extremely poor judgment on the part of Baltimore City. They announced this year that we could dock for free in Baltimore because they had closed the Harbormaster's office due to covid. Then they follow it up by defunding the Marine police. The rioters wanted the city to defund the street police, and the city placated them by cutting the budget and defunding the units that had nothing to do with regular street policing. There is no way I'd sleep on my boat tied up in front of Harbor Place knowing that I could wake up with some of the neighborhood partying on my deck and I'd have no protection from the police. In my opinion that was a backhanded slap at them, and extremely poor judgment in regard to marine safety.

And the video that I saw from Lake Travis showed horrendous conditions. There were what looked to be 4 foot waves there. Many of those small boats had no business being out in conditions like that. For them, it was a disaster waiting to happen.

I will provide this information to Sector Baltimore. Maybe some “area presence” by the orange boats would help slow down the traffic.

Are there specific times it is worst? I could assume Saturday’s mid-day and afternoon and Sunday afternoon, but the Sector crew will ask me.

DWABoat,

I just wanted to say a general thank you to you and the entire CG for all that you do... I hear them on the radio all the time handling all sorts of issues. It is extremely comforting to know that y'all are there when we need you. Some of the rescues I've seen on deadliest catch exhibit the most professional and courageous things I've ever seen. Y'all are true heroes.

Just one question. I always hear the announcements end with "Baltimore sector NCR". What does the "NCR" part mean?
