The White House has announced President Trump and the First Lady have tested positive for Covid-19

See, we live in a democracy (a representative democracy) and even the Prez gets Covid-19. Why? Because he's out doing his job.

And precisely what does 'testing positive' mean? There is a difference between an infection (where some little of the virus is found in a person) and a 'case' where the virus is causing actual problems.

There are also reports that the Prez is preventatively taking HCQ, Zpack, Zinc, Vit D, etc. So his positive 'test' may not mean much for his health, or to objective people.

Funny how every one makes light of this, because trump said it's a hoax. I work in Immunology, on the front lines of Covid research. This is NOT a hoax. I personally have been affected and know people who have DIED. Trump is the biggest spreader of misinformation re: this virus. Now he has it? I thought it was a democratic hoax that will just magically go away??? Karma's a bitch, ain't it?

Trump did not say the virus was a hoax. So misinformation pot, meet kettle.

Oh stop yourself. This virus has been way overplayed. I know people who had it and survived. I also know several people who died since it began, but not due to covid (one fell down the stairs, one had a stroke, one had a heart attack). Yes people get it, get really sick and die. But the vast majority survive. It isn't a death sentence. Stop the hype and insanity.

He never said the virus was a hoax, that is FAKE NEWS even recently repeated by Biden and his campaign. I doubt you'd believe me but how about CNN....

Washington, DC (CNN)During his campaign's highest week of ad spending, Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden tweeted out an ad Tuesday attacking President Donald Trump for comments he has made over the pandemic. Specifically, the ad suggests that Trump has called the virus a hoax.

The 25-second ad begins with a clip of Trump at a campaign rally on February 28 in South Carolina. The ad plays a quick clip of Trump saying "the coronavirus" then it cuts to him saying "and this is their new hoax." Text on the ad reads, "Trump in public: 'Hoax.'"
Facts First: This is a misleading attempt to suggest that Trump specifically called the coronavirus a hoax. While Trump's comments were a bit confusing, Biden's ad leaves out important context and dishonestly edits the two soundbites together

Taken in totality, Trump's comments at the February 28 rally indicate that he is deriding Democrats for attacking his performance on the coronavirus. A full 56 seconds pass between the two clips the campaign ad edited together.
 
Covid-19 is way overblown. It does kill people. It is very mild for others. This debacle will go down in history, after calm and rationality has returned (in 50 years?), as the biggest fiasco ever. Killing the economy to stop a virus that is not as bad as others we have experienced. "What were they thinking?" will be the main theme of future analysts.

It is common to quarantine/isolate sick people. When, before now, have healthy people been quarantined? The vulnerable healthy ones isolated, sure. But how many under 30 have died nationwide? 500 or less?

Then there is the difference between testing positive and being sick -- i.e., the person becoming a "case". Much confusion about this even among medical professionals. Test measure even minuscule amounts of Covid virus in a person. Then that person has "tested positive" as if it's a big deal. It becomes a big deal only when the person is badly sick because of Covid. Not everyone does.

From our health professionals and studies:
  • masks aren't effective
  • masks are effective
  • we're waiting for a vaccine
  • the mask is more effective than a vaccine will be
What is truth about Covid-19 today is not true tomorrow. And repeat.
