Turbo wraps / blankets ... Thoughts?

Recently I saw some information on turbo blankets. I was wondering if anyone uses them or has thoughts.

I've got 3116 Cats and I'm thinking about using them. Anyone have a good source?
Why? The turbocharger turbines (hot side) on the 3116 / 3126 are water jacketed (wet). They're surfaces stay cool during operation. Seems to me that if they are covered, corrosion would be an issue... Conversely, the turbines and exhaust manifolds on my boat (Cummins QSM11's) are dry and have heat insulation.

My engines didn't have turbo wraps when I bought the boat 2 years ago. Is it a performance issue or a safety issue?

I believe you will find your 6CTA turbocharger turbine side is jacketed and water cooled. No need for heat barrier insulation.

Why? Not sure, that's why I asked.....The topic came up and I wasn't sure of the value. If it made sense, I would add them.

I was aware the turbos were water-cooled but wasn't sure of the consensus.
Turbocharger turbine surface temperature if not water cooled can get to 1000 degrees. When in a boat, enclosed in an engine room, it would get insanely hot and be a fire hazard; these installations require insulation blankets on the hot exhaust components. Water cooled units should be the same temperature as the engine block or less than 200 degrees; putting on insulation is no value added. Waste of money. Probably end up being a corrosion issue.
