TV/DVD Combo With 12V Connection.

Any DC plug will work right? If I have an old plug from another device I can cut the plug off that one right?

Absolutely. Just make sure you get the polarity correct! It matters when you are using DC. The center of the connector is positive, by the way. And I never cut up the factory wall wart/brick style power supply that comes with the TV. Why ruin something you would have to pay for twice? I plan on using the TV in my house during the off-season, so clearly, it's a better idea to get something like this item below; and save the AC power supply that came with the TV.

This is basically what I'm using, only mine has voltage range from 3-12 volts, not the larger ranges suitable for laptops. This was just the first online example I found of a regulated 12 volt DC to DC power supply. I like all the different tips that come with these things. They come in very handy for electronic projects around the house when I'm tinkering.

FYI I bought a 19" Insignia and did this exact thing on my last boat. Worked just fine the entire season I had it, before I sold it. I didn't hear any complaints from the new owners.
