My first time owning a boat with twins. It is a 2004 320. Seems like there should be an indicator when the engines are in sync. I can look at the tach's but I think I saw a indicator light on someone elses boat that lit up when they match?
Idea's anyone?

My 310 has a sync gage between the tachs, with a needle that centers when the engines are in sync. Did SeaRay cheap-out and stop including that?

In a way, yes. If the boat came with the Smart Craft System View (SC5000) option, that sync gauge function would be provided with the SC5000 display rather than a gauge.
If that System View option was not provided with the boat, you could add it now, but the SC5000 may no longer be in production. As an alternative to that, you could get the Mercruiser VesselView Mobile device that would allow your phone to display the rpms for the engines side by side. It also provides the benefit of seeing engine control codes.

That could be an expensive proposition. The analog sync gage just wires up between the tachs so the most cost effective solution might be to find one to retrofit.

Or you could get a boat with twin Volvos that automatically sync the starboard engine to the port’s rpm through the magic of electronics.
Oh, come on now, that’s not fair. Might as well say to get a big fast boat with a single diesel and not worry about syncing.

This is from 2004 320DA owners manual. It shows a sync gauge in dash of both the twin stern drive and twin inboard boats. I'm thinking the actual synchronizing is probably done manually with the aid of the gauge on your boat.

Thanks...That's odd. In the above where is the speedo? Mine is right between the tach's. (Where the sych guage is in the above diagram)...No sync guage, I had taken a pic before storage so I'm certain. Maybe that is for a diesel?

Had a synchronizer guauge on my 400DA. Was a nice little guage between the big tachs, not all that accurate. It kind of got close to telling you when the motors were humming together. Bottom line; best thing getting the motors running into sync was an eye in the tacks and a good ear.

You Can Call SeaRay in Florida Give them your hull number they will tell you every thing about that Boat, What it came with, etc...

If you feel the tach's are out of wack, Witch they probably are think about going with the Aetna digital tach's. Worth the investment and you won't need a sync gauge

Sync gauges are cheap and easy to install. My boat was built without one and the dealer added it as a part of the purchase process. All you need is a gauge of your choice, a hole saw and electrical skills. It's a one hour job.

My old, little 2001 280 has the sync gauge. You would think you big fancy boys would have all the bells.
Makes me feel a little less inadequate!!

Do you have this?
Yes I do have the Smartcraft System View option on my 2007 340, and one of the graphic pages that can be shown on the SC5000 is a software equivalent to the synch gauge. It’s a horizontal bar, with the center as being in sync.
My 340 does not have a traditional sync gauge. Not sure I feel the need to go and add one. After a while with a boat I can hear and feel when they are in sync. And the SC5000 lets me check on my feel when needed.

Maybe the previous owner replaced the sync gauge with the speedometer? I have never seen a twin engine SeaRay with out a sync gauge or with a speedometer.
