Underwater lights - recommendations?

I have 3 blue model S lights @ 380 lumens each. They do a nice job lighting 8-10ft behind the boat down 3-4ft. The water around here tends to be somewhat brackish so that limits the range but I am ok with the results. Of course if you really want to light up the water the go for 3-4 of the 760 lumens lights. What shape you use would depend on the space available on you stern. Good luck.

Yeah asking someones favorite LED's is like asking them their favorite motor oil or politcal reccommendations LOL. I know I spent a TON of cash on mine but, to each his own. Now I'll be looking to 2016/2017's light purchase lol. I saw a craft that had under water lights on the sides at the very stern and that would be over kill, but if I have no other upgrades who knows LOL. But that style is outright CRAZY money, so who knows

This is what I fitted, also note that they actually give you some meaningful light output.
RAW Lumens 720 EFFECTIVE Lumens 396.
4 X 3w LEDs = 12w which equates to a 1 amp draw peel lamp assembly.
And waterproofed to 100'
Actually, if I my hull ever gets to 100', I would sooner not be with it.

Here is 3 of them in dark brackish water, typically you can't see your hand 2.5-3 feet under water in bright daylight, so I feel they are pretty good. This coming season I'll get an updated HD video with 5 of these OceanLED 16xtreme Pro's on.

CT,

i'm thinking 3 seablaze X on the back (blue/white), as that is all i'm going to be able to afford at this time, with all the other expenses going on this first year..

one centered below the zinc.. the other 2 just inside of each trim tab about 2 inches above the bottom..
pretty sure those are the only spots that are clear from inside the hull as well

ill probably be docked right in front of you 2 slips over. so you know how the water is

FANTASTIC!! Congrats man, yeah the first year "FUEL" is a good option lol! Welcome to the neighborhood, you'll love it its a great marina. You need to start thread with your new girl, or at least a few posts of her. That's a GREAT shot.

Here is our 3 OceanLED's xtreme pro 16's underway in dark brackish water on the Housatonic River

I have the same boat and the same desire for lighting please let me know how it comes out. I'm interested in duplicating your set up

You do know it is against coast guard regulations to run those while underway don't you?

will do..
looking to start working on the lights end of march, will be dropped back in the water by mid April..
ill get some pics prior to dropping her back in..

Yeah I'm slated for the same schedule, I'll do the same. Looking forward to it as I sit here in 7 degrees with a -10 windchill factor lol. Well it held out for a while, now let Spring get here and soon

I just finished year 2 with 3 lights from Coastal Night Lights with no problems. The owner Chris is a one man operation located in Fl. He makes the lights, markets and ships them himself. He is a member on the THT forum (I know that's not good) but he makes a quality light at a very decent price. Spending many hundreds or thousands for underwater lights is for rich folks.

On my prior 380, I had 3 Coastal Night Lights (rectangular blue LED) installed. They were very bright, however I experienced multiple failed lights. The first set were replaced by Chris at no charge, but I had the haul fee and installation at my expense. The failure was explained to me as a manufacturing defect that had been resolved, but the new owner of my 380 has told me that the new "improved" lights that were installed have also had failures.

On my 44, I went with four Sea Blaze X (white and blue) and am very happy. In my opinion, the build quality of the Sea Blaze X is better than the Coastal Night Light. The light output is outstanding on the Sea Blaze X.

MD,

I'm getting sweaty palms just looking at your signature! WOW!! Very impressive. The Seablaze always looked really good to me but back when I bought my first few lights I couldn't find anyone that could give me a good review on them.

Mystic,
you wouldn't by any chance have pictures of where they mounted them and how they look when lit..
I'm wondering where best placement will be with the trim-tabs, as i mentioned in an earlier post i was planning on putting them just inside of each tab and one under the zinc.
The boat i'm closing on is very similar in Beam to yours (05 390/40)

john, I'm sitting in the same weather as you brother i feel your pain thankfully i work from home, and dont have to leave unless needed..
lets just hope the marina fares better than last February...
i know they upgraded the pilings, but still pretty nasty seeing the Housey frozen solid from Brewers to the dam

I chose to do 4 lights, which may be overkill, but I am happy. The only pic I have of the install is below.

I think you can certainly do 3 lights and have a great affect. Since I was doing 4 lights, the yard recommended the placement you see below. I do not have a good photo of them at night, but I can assure you they are very bright!

Pony, I wouldn't mount them so far down like you suggest between the zinc and drain. Keep them closer to the water line as you see Mystic's are higher than you mentioned. Mine also.better effect

Pony I agree mine are just under the water line, as you can see here. If you go to low in our color brackish waters it will get lost. (Yeah I hope the marina will be good I have some crazy pics of it from last year and the river over by the sunny side ramp)

"For maximum performance SeaBlazeX lights should be mounted 6”to 16” below the waterline"..

right off the instruction manual.. which is what i based my locations on..

just trying to get the best performance especially while "underway"

Found a screaming deal on that really big auction site that rhymes with SEA RAY..

Bought (3) SeablazeX Blue/White for $298 ea./w FREE SHIPPING
