Spent a couple days of the Thanksgiving long weekend upgrading the TV's on my 390DA. The original salon TV=Zenith 20" LCD ..not bad for its time but terribly dated by today's technology. Before and after pics below.

I replaced with a Samsung 28" HD LED TV. Minor re-work to mount it on the original swing down frame but all good.

Also replaced the original tube television (totally out of date) in master with a Samsung 19" HD LED.

Do you have any higher definition pictures? I'd like to do the same with my boat. Also, did you upgrade your wiring to support the HD TV?

Looks good. We did the same on our 40. There is a bit of custom work involved in creating the support pieces behind the TV and the front fill pieces. We used black starboard for the front fill pieces. We only needed a piece above and below the TV as our TV fit the frame perfectly from one side to the other.
Ran new HDMI cable to the new wifi blue ray player we also upgraded from the crappy original. last upgrade to this was a sound bar installed ABOVE the tv. 39" VIZIO fit up there. I disassembled the casement and removed the LED lights so that the whole system looks custom installed above the starboard piece that fills that opening. I'll post pictures after I get on the boat again as it's on the hard.

I will definitely post better pictures. Not sure why they are so grainy. I did run new HDMI wiring to/fr the TV which will eventually go to an upgraded Blue Ray. As Gerry points out in his post, I have similar whereby there was a bit of piece work to attach the TV to the frame (the original TV was thicker) so a spacer was needed with the new LED TV. The TV also fits perfectly from end to end and in my case, I mounted it so it sits right at the bottom of the swing frame. I also used black starboard around the top and was able to preserve some of the original cherry molding above that. All in all, its just so much better than the original and a very doable upgrade. Gerry...good idea on the sound bar. In another post, I'm exploring some inverter options...hate to run the genny for the TV's, so will likely install a local inverter tapping off the 12V DC under the microwave.

On my 420 the TV equipment is in an overhead cabinet on the port side above the couch. Is that the same as your 390/40's? If so, how did you get the HDMI cable around to the TV?

Our physical configurations are different in that the TV & DVD are located on the port side....the radio and amp equipment are on the stbd side. I ran a HDMI cable from the TV(Port) over the ceiling..snaking it above where current speakers and halogen light fixtures are and ultimately down to port side where the amp and other equipment are located. Wasn't all too bad...some of the speaker fronts(covers) are just that...covers only with no speaker so they provide handy access to the ceiling....would be even better to snap your forearm for ultimate access to the ceiling through these speaker cutouts...although very painful.

What type if mount did you use on the stateroom tv?

I used the mount pasted below. Positioned toward the upper half of the cabinet and the lower half is ideal for a shelf...blueray or whatever.

Post a pic when you have a chance. I would like to see it. Does it seem like it it will be secure in rough water?

Will do the next time I'm on the boat next week. That tv isn't budging....very secure. Two lag bolts holding the mount which I replaced with a pair of hex bolts w/washers and nuts. Not going anywhere!

Went to the boat yesterday and took pictures of some of my 2014 upgrades including the new TV and soundbar installation. See below. The soundbar is a vast improvement in sound quality. I purchased the same brand soundbar as the TV in the smallest size I could fine and then basically took it apart to custom-fit the bar and it's LED lights into the black starboard piece above the TV, which was also customized. There is a felt cover (which I have removed for the photos) for the black starboard that hides the soundbar. The top and bottom of the TV was also made from black starboard.

Quite a bit of customization required for this upgrade but the result is a big improvement over the 2006 technology. However, the particular tv model I chose fit within 1/16" of the width of the rack so that was a huge time saver as no customization needed L and R of the TV.

Really nice install. Like to see someone that knows attention to detail. I can do it with electrical and to some extent metal. Not a prayer when it comes to wood.

Fantastic job....makes such a difference compared to the original design...which at the time was reasonably considered 'state of the art'.

Great upgrade. I have a new to me '06 44da. Can't figure out how to take tv off or down to access the back of it. Any hints

When you say you can't take the TV 'down', do you mean that it won't lower from the recessed ceiling location? Not to state the obvious, but are you aware of where the button is? If not, it's on the port side of the salon, to the right of your electrical panel door above the back of the couch. Make sure the appropriate breakers are on.

Ok so this project is going to happen. Not at the boat so wondering where the outlet is that the TV plugs into.

I didn't have one on my 320 so I put one into the side of the Electrial box, under the bulkhead.
