Upper Chesapeake trip: Kent Narrows, MD to Potomac River - destinations to visit along the way

One time we were returning from a Labor Day weekend in Georgetown (upper bay, not DC). 3 boats. Was horrible torrential sideways rain, whitecaps, dangerously miserable. My buddy in a 300 Weekender yells over the radio “If I don’t drown I am buying an RV”. We tucked into Fairlee, spent the night, got home Tuesday morning.
Good times!

Yeah the rain is no concern, calling for T-Storms though.

Leaving from:

"Cloudy in the morning, then thunderstorms developing later in the day. Potential for severe thunderstorms. High 81F. Winds S at 10 to 20 mph. Chance of rain 80%."

Going to:

"Scattered thunderstorms in the morning becoming more widespread in the afternoon. Potential for severe thunderstorms. High 82F. Winds S at 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 90%."

Maybe if we can get out early Friday morning we will be ok.
Well, good luck. You’ll have a story to tell the grandkids.

We're going to leave Saturday morning instead of Friday. I'm not a fan of small craft advisories and severe thunderstorms while on the water, especially the bay.

And that is a wise decision.
I canceled my Friday vacation day, do Tuesday. It is really gonna suck tomorrow.
Would loved to have tipped a few beers with you, but I hope you enjoyed your time in my neck of the woods.

I think we'll be back at some point. I'd like to stay there, Misses doesn't like the drive. Can't say I'm a fan of it either.

At Spring Cove, the bay was flat and gorgeous today, beautiful cruise.

The boat ran very well, I'm super impressed with these diesels, flat seas, amazing trip. Only issue we had was two feet of water 200 yards from the new slip at idle speed. We sucked up a lot of mud, both engines started to overheat. Shut them down, let them cool off, pulled the strainers, they were packed with black mud. Cleaned them up, both engines ran fine for about a half hour, thank goodness no damage. After talking to a couple dockmates, it seems the marina forgot to tell me about low tides in that creek, and no water.

I appreciate all the comments, tips and feedback here, made the trip less stressful.

I'm glad you had a great trip! Yes, Neabsco can get pretty shallow at low tide. They dredged the entrance a couple of years ago and it was even worse before that.

I saw on the charts (earlier in this thread) that it was skinny back there when I was checking the walking distances' to the Island Grill and telling you about that burger. A good tide chart would have been your friend. Sound's like you are having a good trip. Safe travels.

If you see a guy in a 15’ whaler dauntless idle by say hello. I pass Hamptons landing fishing Neabsco creek up around the boardwalk on down. Can’t really get the SeaRay up there.
