Upper Gimbal Swivel Pin

Done this job several times. The steel pin is not in contact with anything else that is ferrous, so it can't bond with anything that it's in contact with. Should not be a big deal getting it out.

Tap size to clean up threads: 7/16-14

I snapped multiple 7/16 bolts on my first housing. Details here:

Just a note, and I might have misunderstood, but the whole is 3/8 so I used a 3/8 to clean the threads. The 7/16 was to big..
But my threads where too corroded so they stripped when applying force on the bolt. Will have to drill and tap for the next size, which will be 7/16 (or go metric M12 since I live in sweden and UN stuff is hard to come by). Just for future references.

Yea, I think you misunderstood. The bolt that fits in the thread is 7/16-14. I just double checked since I have my old one in the garage, so I'm positive on that. So to clean up the threads you want a 7/16-14 TAP. Looking up the drill size for that size thread/tap you would want a 23/64" or 0.3680 inch bit or obviously whatever metric size is closest. The 3/8 (0.3875" is pretty close, a little larger) but maybe running the bit around killed the threads. But there is plenty of meat there to re-drill and tap to whatever size you want. Good luck!

Hehe probably misunderstood then. I went ahead and drilled and re-tapped (10,2 mm drill for m12x1,75 tap). For you metric users, don't buy the m12x1,5! It's really hard to find a correct bolt or threaded bar, 1,75 is standard!

Also made the mistake buying a cheap carbon-steel tap on the local low-price DIY-store and struggled with it for a couple of hours, and ended up messing up the tap. Then went and bought a high quality Völkel/Voelkel HSS-steel tap (15$ instead of 7$) and it cut like butter by comparison, I was done in under 1 minute.

Lessons learned!
