Hi everyone could use some advice. We bought our 1999 400 Sundancer late August . Some minor issues but mostly good times. Recently we moved her to her winter berth. No issues . Went down today to fuel up and pump out for the winter and the starboard engine will not go into gear. Forward or reverse. Seems a little odd that something like this would break just sitting for a week. Any advice? Steve

Have you opened the engine hatch and looked to see if the shift cable is still connected to transmission. Also check under helm to see that it is not broken off the shifter.

I have opened the hatch and the shift cable looks like it is functioning properly

Had a 94" 400DA I sold three years back. The new owner said he had to replace starboard trans about six months after he got it. Shifted great for me, servicing and oil samples were good, and you never know what happens when it's someone else's hands but seemed unusual to me. He ended up replacing both units.
Before calling in the clavary I'ld double check the linkage at the transmiton. If the shift lever operates the unit when disconected from the shifting cables then it's just cables and levers that might be binding up.
Hope it works out.

I was actually thinking about the prop. But the water temp is in the low 50's . So I don't think anyone stole it . Is it possible to spin the prop off? I had an outboard that I drove all day and the first time I put it in reverse the prop spun off. I guess I can check to see if the shaft is spinning.

If the shaft is spinning either the prop got stolen or the shaft snapped off behind the cutlass bearing. Wouldn't be the first time.
