Where does everyone get their foam for vberth bed? We just bought our boat and the current one is full of mold.... gross. Need new but foam at JoAnn Fabrics isnt large enough. TIA

Thank you everyone! I'm new to this type of thing, posting and replying. I appreciate everyone's input. We will probably go with a regular queen or king mattress and cutting it to size, trying to keep the cost down yet still be comfortable. We are located in Sandusky, OH on Lake Erie.

We threw the old mattress’s out and bought 3” cool memory gel toppers from Costco doubled them up even guests onboard say they sleep great.

Best idea I have heard is to buy a king size normal foam mattress and use an electric knife to cut it to size rather than a topper. Or get a custom one made to fit, but I would bet that would be $$$

Exactly what I did for the sold 330DA, it had a strange kidney shape so I cut it with an electric knife. Remember to cut it bigger than you think you need, the foam sinks in when you lay on it.

Walmart typically has 4 inch foam mattresses in stock.
I had a professional do a queen for me with his foam and the cost was $200.

This is what I did and upgraded to 6". Electric turkey knife works great. Pro tip for perfect cuts that I wish I knew the first time - for straight line cuts on an angle through the foam mark your line on the top of the foam and overhang the bottom edge of the foam over a table at your bottom edge cut mark. Use the table as a guide for the bottom edge and use your marks for the top. Similar method can be used for compound angles with a 1/4 ply template cut to shape. This method avoids you neeeing to watch two marks at once on either side of the foam which is exceedingly difficult without lots of drinking beforehand.

It would help to know where you are...there are a lot of foam fabricators that will sell to the public and you can pick the density....we did 4” from a foam distributor/fabricator with a 2” topper from Costco. Measure, ours is slightly smaller then a queen.

I love forums where the OP posts, then turns into a ghost, yet we continue to chat it up for a long time :)

We really just need someone to start the conversation and away we go :)

Especially when they where on the site last night I hate it when Someone is selling something and does this.

Its because we have CSR addiction issues and they don't ;).

I wouldn’t say we are addicts....said the addict :)..... I would say we are just overly helping... like the police yesterday up the street from me... a mother duck laid her eggs in a neighbors front yard...the ducklings when hatched then fell down the sewer thru the sewer grate... police saved all three.

funny this doesn’t make the news...not really funny and not surprising

Joe this brings up my issue. We replaced our stock mattress with a foam mattress from the mattress store. Hands down best sleep i have now are onboard. I'm debating what to do with the old mattress. Its sitting in my basement now. Think if and when we sell the boat to put the old one back. Since we had to cut the old one its a long way from looking like factory. So the long way around to my question is; do most save the old mattress or toss it?

I'm running out of room at home for the stuff I find useless and remove from the boat :(

Dean, we tossed the mattresses they had blue dots on the underside that we think where mold, I have to be honest I look forward to going to bed on the boat the gel memory keeps me from moving all night I sink into it.

Measuring our mattress size for the V-berth it is 87" from the head to foot and 100" at it's widest point. Did you find a foam mattress that will fit this size? Everything we have tried from retailers is too small. We don't want to piece of together and have cracks to fall into. Thanks
