Has anyone done a Vessel View Link on their 360DA or similar? I am going to do the install on our 2003 360DA to replace the badly faded Smartcraft display. Looks like an easy install if I have an open port on the SmartCraft hub. I have a 4 port hub at the helm behind the switches, but it is full. The electrical drawings show a hub in the engine compartment on the forward bulkhead, but I found no hub there. Just wondering if I am missing where a second hub is or do I just need to swap by 4 port for a 6 port hub.

Swap the 4 for 6. Plug and play.

@LG111 I thought that was the way to go. Does anyone know how the SmartCraft gauges connect to the Vessel View Link. From my SC5000 manual it looks like the SmartGuages connect to the SC5000 display so not sure where they get the connection if the SC5000 is gone.

You would need a primary harness like the on in this diagram to drive the link gauges.
Not sure it will work without the smartcraft MFD though.

@Craig thanks, that is what I have been unable to confirm, if I need the SC5000 to drive the SC100 gauges. I can't find anything that says the Vessel View link will drive the gauges. I may give Mercury a call as I have been unable to figure this out.

Yep, Im pretty sure you need a vessel view mfd to drive the SC100's. That is the only way to set it up through the menu. I just did a vv502 and that was the case.

@Craig so yours with the VV502 drives the SC100 gauges? If that is the case then there must be a harness. The 500,700 and 900 Vessel view series are all just SIMRAD displays rebranded and connected to SmartCraft via a Vessel View Link NMEA 2K backbone. So as long as I find the right harness, any MFD that supports Vessel View (SIMRAD, Lowrance, B&G) should work.

You will get all the smartcraft NMEA 2K data with any compatible mfd. But I think you need the vv Software in the rebranded unit to drive the link guages. Not sure if the non vv Simard Units have the vv software. Check with Merc They were very helpful in walking me through my install. I think the link module just converts what's coming out of smartcraft to NMEA 2k.

Hey Team PCBeach....I’m interested to know how your project turned out. I have a 2005 360DA and want to do something similar. Replace my Raymarine C80, autopilot, radar and VHF units with modern Simrad stuff. The GO 9 looks like a good fit to where the C80 is now, and it looks like I can replace my Mercury Smartcraft display with another GO 9 MFD. I want to keep my SC100 gauges in place and working. So I’m curious how you did that. Did you have to keep the Smartcraft unit somewhere in order to drive the gauges? I thought I saw where someone just hid the unit under the helm out of sight. Did everything work? Sonar transponders, rudder position sensor, autopilot pump? Fuel gauges?

Sorry...lots of questions. Just getting into this but want to get it done over the winter.

Thanks!

Working on this right now
Anyone figure it out ?

I had VV Link and VV703 installed 2 years ago and I can get my engine data on both my Garmins. Can’t help much with the install since I had my yard do the install but I am happy with the results. There are few threads on the forum with detailed install notes if you search.
