Yesterday was the admiral's birthday so we elected to try a mid week overnight trip with still going to work the following AM. We had a wonderful evening including a fantastic dinner and sunset and although the VERY early wake-up call wasn't so fun, we did manage to catch the sunrise as we headed back to the mainland. An hour boat ride and an hour car ride to start the day. We both made it to the office on time and are feeling great. I think we'll do more of these types of trips!

We checked out West Bay last August while we were down there. Was pretty good, island type of vibe. Not much of a crowd (we went there trying to catch a sunset) but was in the middle of the week, so that would be expected.

Did they redo the docks?

My wife and I were just talking about taking our boat to Cedar Point for a couple of days and then a few more days around PIB or Kelly's Island. Do you have any recommendations for the area. We used to camp with the kids at East Harbor SP, go to Cedar Point, PIB, etc. We always had a great time. The kids are all gone, but we wanted to visit the "Roller Coast" again!

Thanks,

We enjoy Kelley's Island much more than PIB (crazy!), though we do venture to the bay a couple times a year. I'd recommend Portside Marina at Kelley's for a day or two. They have golf cart rentals and are centrally located on the island. Good food, great atmosphere and walking distance to many things to do. It's a nice, easy run from Cedar Point too. Our dock is very close to CP and we make the run to Kelley's just about every weekend. The sunrise pic I posted above was just prior to entering Sandusky Bay returning from Kelley's. Cedar Point was off our port bow at that moment.
