Westerbeke Gas Generator Alternate Parts Sources

2000 Westerbeke 7.0 looking for a pick up module. There is a part Tridon Tpu004 but is in Australia and trying To find crossover numbers for this three cylinder 660 mL Mitsubishi motor. Thank you Joe

Cross posting some info I created as people here are likely working on their genset. If you have corrections, or additions to the theory of operation, please comment.

I’m looking for a replacement for the oil pressure switch that communicates with the system monitor panel.

Original Westerbeke part number: 011552
Superseded Westerbeke part number: 056484

Any help will be appreciated.
I believe, but could be wrong, that it’s a normally closed 10 psi switch with 1/8 thread.

An oil pressure switch is normally open. It is the pressure that closes it.

Generac P/N 0L2917C Oil Pressure Switch - 10 PSI Normally Closed. Has 10 PSI oil pressure actuation. Switch is normally closed (N.C.) meaning when oil pressure is applied at 10 PSI or more, the switch will open and allow the generator to run. Approx price $20 -30 online, much better than $100. Should work as a replacement.

Looking for some help to find a rocker arm for a 2003 Westerbeke 5 BCG gas generator. P/N: 037908
I'm hoping there is a cross reference to something like the 86 Sprint earlier in this thread. Those are only $12-30...
Here are pics of mine and the listing at Westerbeke. Thanks for any help.

For 73 bucks I wouldn't spend time searching around. Get OEM. You're getting off easy. I just bot their remote filter kit for something like $700. :)

I'm not really sweating the $73. I'll probably just order it. I'm more asking because there might be other parts that I need. Why did the rocker snap? I haven't found the reason yet... I like to know what options there are.

At the risk of being a "Karen" here, if we are talking about a 7.0 BCG, the oil pressure switch is normally open, and closes when pressure reaches the threshold of the switch. If you have a different Genset model, disregard, and get your schematic to be sure.
You have to hold down the run/bypass switch to complete the positive circuit to the Distributor, fuel pump, and fuel shutoff solenoid until that pressure switch closes, which then allows the gen to run on its own. If oil pressure drops below the threshold, or the water temp exceeds the threshold, or the exhaust temperature exceeds the threshold, the positive circuit will open, killing the genset and shutting off the fuel flow. See the schematic for the 7.0 BCG. The icon for the oil pressure switch is showing normally open, whereas the other two are normally closed. Hope this makes sense. I see the OP has a 2000 380, and the contester has a 2001 340 with a bcgb model. Perhaps these DO use a normally closed oil pressure switch. Not sure of the exact model of the OP's genset. I have always referenced that I am speaking of the control logic of a 7.0 BCG.

Yup ......I have been coveting a remote oil kit for my 7.0 BCDG. Changing the oil filter means it leaks down the side of the engine.....just a mess. But $700 just seemed to be really expensive.

After a lot of digging I found a path which will probably cut that in half. I ended up buying the oil filter adapter from Westerbeke as well as the O ring. That adapter and O ring are the key to the entire remote oil configuration. Once I had those parts ($177.55 302842 O ring, 040075 Adapter) I went down the path of a universal remote oil filter setup made by Derale 15780 Remote Oil Filter kit $79.07.

Unfortunately that took me down a rabbit hole of fittings and adapters which meant I didn't like where it was going. In the end I spent $60 on fittings and adapters which I probably won't ever use. The only thing I used from the Derale kit was the filter holder. I just did not like the thought of using barbed fittings for oil lines.

So I went with 10' of stainless steel braided line (to be cut into two 5' lengths) and AN 8 fittings which meant a super clean installation. Four 90 degree AN8 fittings, two AN8 by 3/8" male pipe adapters (for the Westerbeke adapter), two AN8 by 1/2" male pipe adapters for the Derale filter holder. This added $55.58 to the money already spent.

So all in I spent $372.20. If I back out the mistake of $60 that makes it $312 which I consider to be a reasonable solution. Arguably it could be even less if I was just to buy the Derale filter holder without the rest of the kit .....that would have saved another $40.

I will post a few pictures the next time I am at the boat.

Just an update for the remote oil filter kit for a Westerbeke 7.0 BCDG.

This should be the final parts list.

Westerbeke Remote Oil Adapter 040075 $167
Westerbeke O ring for Adapter 302842 $11

Derale Remote Oil Filter Mount $26
Oil Filter PH8A $10

Hose items (CPE)

AN8 10' Stainless Steel Braided CPE Hose (to be cut into two 5' lengths) $18

For Westerbeke Adapter
AN8 90 degree swivels tight radius (2) $21
AN8 to 3/8" NPT straight fitting (2) $8

For Derale Oil Filter Mount
AN8 to 1/2" NPT straight fitting (2) $10

Hose Ends
AN8 90 degree swivels normal radius for CPE Hose (2) $18
AN8 Straight fitting for CPE hose (2) $18

The total as it stands is: $307

This configuration will work with on any Westerbeke using a Westerbeke 036918 oil filter. Westerbeke has different adapters available for other models. Hopefully the only thing you would need for a different model is just the Westerbeke adapter and o ring.

There is not a lot of space to work with the original oil filter. When you change the oil it dumps oil on to the starter and just makes a mess. This should solve that problem.

Now you tell me. :)

Not to worry.......I spent about $150 in extra parts and fittings that I most likely will never use to figure it out. :(

It should make it easier for the next person. I tried to make it universal for most models and the only thing they would need from Westerbeke is the adapter and O ring.

I will post pictures in a few days......
