Hi, long time since I posted, I have a westerbeke 7.5 mca gas generator. The noisemaker has a tendency so far to blow its capacitors (35 microfarad) about once a season. Just replaced both and under load it is now putting out 120v. Is this normal to go do quickly? I have only 80 + hours on in total. As a caveat I do boat here in sunny Texas where 6 months of the year are 93 degrees hazy, hot and humid with a chance of showers. thanks in advance. Dave
Have found there are quality issues with some caps. The ChiCom ones don't seem to last as long as good US, S. Korea or Japan ones. Found this out working on BIG (250-750 KVA) UPS units. Are you sure the 35's you are replacing are the actual size that is spec'd for the unit? (maybe someone earlier replaced them with what you now have (maybe wrong spec)

Hi thanks for your responses, I originally bought the caps from westerbeke at 92 dollars a cap. They come from Romania so who knows regarding quality. I can buy them from other sources online at 23 dollars, maybe next go around. I have a feeling this is heat induced was trying to find out if I should be looking for any other faults.
