What’s an assault weapon?

The FNS 40 S&W stainless is for the boat when we are in the Bahamas. Frangibles of course.
Smart on both accounts. I carry an M&P most days, but I'd have to be careful where I put it on the boat. Especially with salt water and air. I might have to pick up a stainless EDC just for the boat. Bummer lol Frangibles are a great idea for the boat too.

Why are you surprised? School children in the 50-70s had to show proof of a Smallpox vaccination. There were also requirements for polio vaccination as well.
Not in Idaho where I grew up in those same times. My parents would never have complied with such. Father WWII in the pacific theater and State Biologist and mother a RN.

When I was a cop I took a call for something I don't even remember at an elderly couple's house. While sitting there talking to them she mentioned their son had a gun stored at their house. He had died in a car wreck many years before but they still had the gun.

Naturally, being a gun nut/armorer/firearms instructor I asked to see it. They brought out the S&W mahogany box and when I opened it I almost messed my knickers. Inside was a brand new 6" stainless N frame Smith in .44 Mag.

They wanted to give it to me but I said I couldn't take it, but I would check with my chief to see what a fair price would be if I bought it. I did, and went back a few days later with my checkbook. I don't remember what the amount was but after writing out the check and them giving me the gun, they looked at me and tore up the check.

I still have that gun locked up in my safe. That's probably one I'll never part with, and it's still unfired.

Great story.
Probably should have never been told. As far as ALL the guns I have ever possessed, I gave them ALL to homeless, non-English speaking immigrants on their way to parts unknown for self-defense several years ago. I really should have gotten some paperwork. Oh well...live and learn! :)

That was such a nice thing for you to do. I'm sure the people greatly appreciated your generosity.

Not sure of the relevance of your parentage, but I should have qualified my original statement with “most”. But since the point wasn’t made with respect to proof of vaccination and vaccination itself not being anti-American, I should have been more direct. Once again Golfie was asleep in American history class; in 1777 smallpox vaccination was mandatory in the Continental Army. So vaccination has been part of America since before there was an America. As for the legality of both mandatory vaccination and evidence thereof please review Jacobson v. Massachusetts, US Supreme Court, 1905, that upheld both mandatory vaccination and evidence of same.

Does that include vaccines that are being administered under emergency use authorization and haven't yet been fully cleared?

Interesting case. How far can a government go? It seems pretty far if the right people are in power. Scary.
The case does seem to claim the authority for forced vaccination is in that group reserved only at the state level and is not one specifically assigned to the federal government.
I’m no legal expert. Is my interpretation correct? If so, we can foresee the typical control states, such as NY, Michigan, Washington, having forced vacs, while others, such as TX, Ark, AL, having no such law. This variation will lead to travel restrictions, I think.
Am I way off base?

Probably relevant to consider though, when speaking of mandatory vaccinations, that the smallpox mortality rate was around 30%, while covid is between 1-2 %.

At the rate we are going I will never be eligible in PA anyway so the vaccine is a non-issue for me at this point. Even first responders aren't eligible here yet

I love shooting my .22LR Mark IV Hunter. Wonderful and dead nuts accurate. Not crazy about my P90 .40SW. My little .380 is fun tho. I prefer rifles and shotguns .
.22s are great. Cheap to shoot too which is nice. Especially with the insane prices of ammo right now. We have several 10/22s so I bought a kit to convert one into an evil black rifle. Outstanding kit and fun to shoot. I also have a bolt from CMMG that allows me to shoot .22lr out of any of my 5.56/.223 ARs. Just pull your 5.56 bolt out and replace it with the . 22 bolt. Insert the special .22 magazines and you're off.
Of the guns I own, my favorites are all 22's. Carry guns? I guess you could call my Ruger Single Six and my S&W Mod 41 my carry guns.;) Purchased the Ruger new in '74 and the Mod41 in '80. Geez, guns I bought new are getting old, don't think I like what that means.:( They're showing some holster wear but otherwise in great shape, they're aging a bit better than I am.

All this gun talk got me bingeing on Hickok45 videos again:rolleyes:

Considering the Supremes made this decision in 1905 and the world has not come to an end in the 115 years it’s been the law, you may be over reacting a teensie. Not much really, just a tad. Considering we have had measles, mumps, yellow fever, and polio to name a few, and no overt abuses I think the risk is low. And as someone mentioned in a later post the fatality rate for smallpox was far higher than COVID.

From what I’ve read while the original case involved a local government the decision was framed in the notion that the public good outweighed the individual’s position when the conditions are dire enough. That leads the way for action at any level. Quarantines (of the troops blocking the roads in hazmat suits) comes to mind as an example of something at the federal level.

They’re not getting old, they’re getting classic my friend !

Hickok45 is awesome. He likes the 6.8spc which makes him more awesomerous.

I guess I’m over the top by a bit. I carry a Bond Ranger on the boat. A Sig 232 during the summer months, and a Ruger 38 during the winter. All are very concealable

Just because the Supreme Court upheld it doesn’t mean it’s not un-American. See Plessy v Ferguson.

And it’s a long way from requiring a vaccine to making me “show my papers” as I go about my daily life.

Have you ever fired the Bond Ranger? Bet you can't even feel the recoil. o_O lol

Happy Easter everyone.

Have you ever fired the Bond Ranger? Bet you can't even feel the recoil...

They’re all basically the same.
I have the Patriot with 3” bbl. in .45 lc.
With the arthritis in my wrist you best believe I feel the recoil:oops:.

.410 shells aren’t quite as bad, but the pattern sucks past about 15 feet.

Still usually puts a grin on my face though :).

They make a 410 shell for it that has a lighter load, but yes you do feel it. .45 is much worse. Like most Derringers it has a very short range.
