What did I get in the box? Autopilot and VHF goodies

A friend of mine is doing an upgrade and gave me a box of goodies.

In the box it has the following:

Raymarine Smartpilot S2G AST course computer
Raymarine RAY240 VHF Radio

Some box box labeled TII Power supply


I have a Raypilot 650 autopilot (NMEA 0183.) Will any of this work for me?

The 240 handset lacks a Distress button, doesn’t it? VHF radios have come a long way since that was produced. I’d toss it.

The course computer will need a head unit, and I don't think your Raypilot is it. If it speaks seatalk, then maybe. You would also have a rudder position indicator, a fluxgate compass, and some connectivity to your GPS. And, of course a hydraulic motor for steering. If yours works, I'd stick with that. If you want to look for head units, the 5000, 7000, and 8000 series are candidates. 2-4 hundred on ebay.
If you are going to throw it away, I could always use a spare. ;-)
