What is the Motorola device on Merc 5.0 MPI

During oil change (new owner) I saw a thin Motorola branded device on my stbd engine. Merc 5.0 MPIs on a 2002 310 DA. Upper port side of the stbd engine near the transom. I forgot to look for the same on the port engine. What it is?

If it was on a silver plate bracket about 6”x9” then it was the engine ECM (computer that controls the engine)

ECM Engine Control Module. One on each engine.
