I searched for Big Bud 747 for several minutes until I read there was only one of them built and it's in Montana. Then the Mariners game started so my search ended.

It was a small company with limited production, unlike Deere or CaseIH.

Even if the Big Bud you found was not a 747 - but one of their other models - it would still be indicative of the experience.

Nite and day difference inside those 70, 80's series of tractors and the cab on the ones today.

This is a listing of current for sale - kind of the yachtworld of tractors. Note, most are listed by the same company in Montana, but they are not necessarily physically located there.

https://www.tractorhouse.com/listin...t/category/1100/tractors/manufacturer/big-bud

you could buy one cheaper than a boat or an RV! Would be impressive sitting in the driveway.

During high school and college I operated equipment for a living, from a skid steer up to a Cat D8 and everything in between. So tractors have no allure. I also learned to weld during that time to save on down time. I have done a hot air balloon ride, flown over Kilauea in a helicopter, driven a stock car on a track around 175 MPH, broken 140 MPH in my lowly Mazda 6, gone over 100 MPH on the Mississippi river in a 20' drag boat with a supercharged 454 (I was 14 and I wasn't driving, still f'ing fast though), married the woman of my dreams and have raised 2 successful children (and have a wonderful daughter in law).

I think all I have left is flying an F-15, doing a ride along with a Blue Angel, and going to Lake Como, Rome and Venice. The Italy trip was supposed to be this summer for our 30th, but COVID started to spike. My wife wants to take an Alaskan cruise (had one scheduled and paid for in May, 2020 but COVID happened so we got a refund) so I guess, by default, that is on my bucket list as well. I used to have playing St. Andrews, Pebble and Augusta on my list but golf has lost it's place in my life and I haven't played a single round since 2013. Prior to 2010 I averaged about 75 - 100 rounds a year to go with weekly driving range sessions.

Mine are pretty low-key;
1) Retire (March 2022!)
2) Re-locate to north Idaho so I can be with the boat
3) Both the wife and I would like to prospect for gold in south-west Australia
4) See some of the castles in Scotland

He is still around on Sea Ray’s forum…. People listen to him there…quite amazing
I keep looking for him to show up here again under an assumed identity. We should set up a friendly wager / pool for how many posts he makes before he gets "made" by the regulars on here. I'll take 5 posts.

Bob,
Re: top speed…
Loooooong time ago, high school buddy bought a 69 Grand Prix, 42? with tri-carbs. We took it out middle of night on I-271 (shout out to east side Clevelanders). Pegged the 160 speedo. It was… surreal. White lane lines became solid. Cars doing 70, dots in the distance, we were on them in an instant . Did it ONCE. Never again. Young and dumb.

Congrats Steve. 55 sport jumps here, none tandem or military. Cleveland Sports Parachute Center (now called Cleveland Skydiving Center).
Thanks!

Keep going! Mine were all sport jumps also... If you jump a PD canopy... a bit of trivia. PD is owned by Bill Coe. I taught Bill Coe's first jump class and jump mastered him.

I hear ya. It's probably near the bottom of the list, somewhere below staying alive.

Well, a couple more came to mind, so;
5) See a Space Shuttle launch in person. Uh, no. That ship has sailed. Maybe make it down to one of the Space-X launches.
6) See the Northern Lights! With plans in motion to be relocating to north Idaho, this is a reasonable expectation.
7) Go deep-sea fishing. Will also throw a couple of crab pots off the dock while we're at it.

Go for the jump! I’ve got almost 1,000 off em. Loved every minute of them.
Over 700 here but back in the early 70's. We were jumping paradactyl's in Elsinore and Star Id. Those things were a handfull..... Then moved to the proto Stratostar and got one of the first 5 cell strato's; I still have that thing somewhere. SCR, NSCR, and Halo. Did a lot of very cool things that folks can't do anymore....

Hi Tom.
Mine were in the mid 70’s to late 80’s. Most of them were at Hinckley IL out of a Twin Beech. Cheepo, T10, PC, Stratostar, Pegasus were my canopies. Early “FreakBrother” SCR , JM, I.
Best memory was the demo jump 2.5 NM off 32R at ORD into my old high school. Got 10K and made Tri wedges at dusk with the city and airport all lit up. Was stunning!

Volunteer at a rescue shelter for dogs/cats, clean cages, feed them, find homes. Mission in life. Soon as i retire.
ASPCA does good, but its a corporation. The CEO prolly has a yacht bigger than anyone on here. Give to your local county shelter. All volunteers, 100% money goes to the rescues. Please support local.

For years I donated to a few charities directly out of my paycheck. We had a few charities to choose from. Then all the news came out about how little actually gets to the actual charity. Since then we only donate to the local humane societies. Wife buys bag of food and takes baskets full of toys, etc

Cool stuff!
My bucket list if I was still doing it would be a balloon jump. My HALO was out of the back of a well used ex Viet C130 with 30 others which was amazing. That was over Longmont Co. Probably the most expensive jump made.

My first square - long lined Stratostar. Had the "Rings and Ropes" deployment system before I added the slider. Had 4 functions in a month before I changed... wanted to save my $$$ for jumps and ended up supporting my local rigger, Whitey instead. Whitey and another friend, Moriarty went in in that Beech 18 crash in Honolulu back in the late 80's. He was part of "Party in Paradise".

Trivia point... Many jumpers today jump a Performance Design AKA PD canopy. PD was founded by Bill Coe. Bill was an Eastern Airlines A&P down in Florida that found himself out of work when Eastern went belly up. He had an idea on how to manufacture parachutes more efficiently. I taught Bill's first jump class and JM'd him that weekend. I guess I did a good job!

I guess so! Mine originally had the reefing system (rings and rope on the pilot) then got rid of that mess and added the "diaper" after a couple of minor malfunctions. If I remember correctly my Strato was made by Steve Schneider but that was a long long time ago....

Well....
Been with the same girl for 39yrs
Raised a great son who is married 10yrs now, with two Grandkids and a wonderful daughter in law.

Had a good 30+yr career in manufacturing-" hit the 6 figures.
Have aquired a collection of '68-'69 Ford Torinos over the years, my holy grail is my 2dr formal top 428 R code Cobra w/61K original miles.
Pegged out the 120mph speedo in my '69 Torino 'vert running with the top down, scary....in my 20's.
During my career when I was on the 50 wk/yr travel plan, I searched the country for Barbeque from different regions
Boats from 14' to 44'
Grew up in Sebastian, Fl. Always on the water.
Watched the Apollo missions launch from the side of A1A in lawn chairs, then watched the first few shuttle lauches before moving to Ga.
Piloted several small aircraft, not solo.
Caught a 10lb Bass
Offshore and inshore fishing with my son, great memories there.
Told manufacturing to go pound sand in '18 to help my son with a few businesses he was starting. Son, two nephews, and myself are partners.
Get to work with family
We merged one of our companies with another last year. They went IPO last Feb and now looking at 7 figures...the "American Dream" I was taught does not compare to this "Dream"...
We own three properties, two homes and are debt free, whew!
I get to spend more time at "The Office", our '89 CV440 in Savannah. Am heading there Tuesday for the week with my 23' Bay for some inshore fishing. Live on the 440, fish the 23.
I guess I'm "bucketed out"
Open item is watching the kids and grandkids grow and become sucessful, every parents dream for thier kids to do better, very proud of all of them.

Well working for Lamborghini for almost 20 years, I have had plenty of share of driving fast on both track and street in excess of 200mph. My go fast days are over and like the simpler things. I applaud you sky divers and military but for me I still don't see the need to jump out of a perfectly good running aircraft....
