whats up in iran fellow boaters ?

Iran hopes to control the narrative by goading us into a response that they can spin on the world stage. Unlike Obama who telegraphed his every move, our current administration will respond at the time of our own choosing, and Iran will not see it coming.

Why second guess the quarterback before the first play has been called? Wait and see how it turns out.

looking at this all from germany the actual situation appears strange to me ...

while your president is very good in strong words at twitter iran now shows the world it can do what it wants , either attacking civilian tankers or downing your military drones and usa does nothing beyond a war battle at twitter ...

if usa is not interested in a military conflict its nice , but in this case for what cancelling the nuclear deal at all and for what that sactions at all instead go the diplomatic way ?

i see the fear iran will win this conflict in a bold way and will dictate the rules in future and usa will leave this conflict as a complete fool.

up to now it appears your predident talks about fire and fury and destroying iran while it becomes clear to everybody it is nothing more than a tweet and a laugh.

honestly - you are by far the most powerful military machine on this planet ...

what do native americans think about this ?

best regards

I think you are an ignorant person who is informed by commercial media.

it appears most of you support the current president and of course at the end it might turn out he is right even when for now i - looking from another continent - struggle to see the strategy or benefits of the current road map . thats the reason i asked for opinions of born americans .

I think you are an ignorant person who is informed by commercial media.

i think we do in this thread a great job sharing different
opinions without personal insults . we should keep it this way and i do not think you have a hot wire to the president so are informed only by commercial media as well.

My GF is from Europe and I travel back and forth occasionally. What I noticed is when overseas, CNN is the prominent US news station. It seems everyone can get it. Do you find this is the case where you are in Germany? I found it almost impossible to find Fox News, which is the more conservative news channel in the US. If your news source is liberal media, it's going to create a narrative they want portrayed.

Foreign affairs right now are hitting concerning times all over the globe....Russia and China are now major players and are succeeding at fictionalizing our allies in some serious issues.

You say, most of us support the current Pres., but I ask do you? I think most of us, might support any administration and not rush to judgement. The truth is, unless you are in the intelligence field, you likely don't have anywhere near the full picture nor all the variables that come to play....

I will say, these are dangerous times...In fact, IMO, becoming more dangerous than the cold-war....Yet, unfortunately, I don't think we can continue down a path of head in the sand while State Agents continue to get nuclear capabilities and destabilize the world...For too long we have not made the difficult decisions. I wish we had made moves two decades ago to address these regimes and give people a path to freedom.

One thing you seem to overlook, isn't what's in it for us, which is the simplistic approach, but what's at-steak for the people of these nations living under totalitarian regimes...You sit back with your freedom, right to vote, with little threat of reprisal....What about the people "lucky" enough to have made the "choice" to be born in Iran, Syria, Venezuela, N. Korea?

I don't want war...I want to be able to live in peace and freedom...Even in the US, with ever increasing restrictions of liberty, it's getting harder...But I'm willing to make sacrifices to ultimately make the world a safer place...At this point, I'm counting on the world as the best living option...Mars doesn't seem likely, nor that appealing...

So, I'm on board with this line of thought but I believe more importantly, the terroristic extension of these rogue factions or governments or nations (whatever) extending across their boarders and a threat to other nations and peoples that have more important things to contribute to society. I'll say it again in case our friend from Germany didn't pick up on it - the reason the current administration pulled out of the deal and are applying additional economic pressure is because Iran was using the US dollars given as part of the original deal to fund and extend terrorism outside of their boarders. What about their nuclear capability you might ask? Well that is simply a talking point from the media that has other malicious agenda. Keep in mind with the increased economic pressures there is no means to further a costly nuclear capability.

Well, I was all spooled up about this until I received a call from a friend on the dock where my boat is (1000 miles away) who watched a new guy, who has never had a boat before, back his 20 year old 60' Ocean Alexander into the slip for the first time. He hit my boat on the starboard side toward the stern, mostly the rub rail. Rub rail shows the impact-not too bad. His boat took a beating. Amazingly, I had to call him late this morning. Of course he said he was going to call but..

They would not have been shooting it down if it was carrying the $400M in US Cash that Obama sent their way:
https://www.cnn.com/2016/08/03/politics/us-sends-plane-iran-400-million-cash/index.html

Anyway $400M for nothing vs $130M (https://www.foxbusiness.com/politics/us-navy-drone-shot-down-iranian-missile-cost) for verifiable information on a combative enemy - I will take it any day. Thats what these drones are for. Oh, and when they order another to replace that puts the money back in our citizens pockets since they are working.

assuming the entire EU supports this - would you prefer to bomb them on the diplomatic table or back off as it is ?
The ships attacked were flying the flags of Norway, Saudi Arabia, UAE, and Japan. Lets pretend a ship from Germany was on that list also.

My question to you is what are you going to do about it? Are you just going to stand there and do nothing? Are you going to attack and if you're not could you explain why not. Should your lack of immediate, overwhelming death and destruction be seen as weakness, cowardice, or a thoughtful proportionate response made in the best interest of all, including the worlds spectators.

There have been many 'incidents' between countries through the years. This US drone thing is another one, we strayed over the line most likely, they shot it down....both players know what really happened, the 'incident' is over, let's not turn it into a war.

Thanks Mike. Apparently . He has contacted SYS that sold him the boat and they are sending their fiberglass guy out to look at both boats. Owner seems anxious to resolve the issue as I think he likes the slip as much as he likes the boat, as you can understand.. Hope all is well with you guys. Mary and I are coming down Friday to stay over the fourth. Maybe over the weekend we could get together with you all? Stay in touch.

honestly i do know to little about your lifestyle and culture to build an opinion .

the road map appears to be weak and iran wins while usa or nato looses the face . i hope to be wrong

Curious, why do you advocate the US go in with military action? You seem disappointed.

Speaking of disappointment and losing face, what's Merkle doing to help out NATO with regards to Iran? Perhaps she'll invite a million or so Iranians to seek refuge in Germany?

no , i just ask your opinion

You are expressing your opinion in a passive-aggressive way. When someone, for example, says "You're not going to eat that, are you?", they are not really asking about your dining intentions.

In your case it reads as "You're not going to let Iran get away with that are you?"

hehe ... i guess you are spot on with merkel.

btw - i,m not advacating usa into a military conflict . but i think there are two ways for iran : the compromise diplomatic one or bombing them to sign a new nuclear deal .

choosing none of both ways results what we see now .

whatever - thank you all for sharing your opinions about this !

Or, option #3 that you didn't mention: Not attacking and playing the waiting game while increasing sanctions against Iran.

If I were Iran and knowing that we were within 10 minutes of getting bombed, I'd be giving some serious second thoughts to taking any more steps against the US.

I gotta believe that pissing off the Trumpster ain't gonna make you sleep soundly at night.
