Where to buy Marine Grade Carpet

Does anyone know or have experience in locating a good source of marine grade carpet for Sea Ray. I'm going to replace the original carpet in my 1990 Sea Ray 310's cabin (not the cockpit). Is there anything special I should be looking for (type of fabric, etc...) There seems to be many jobers offering carpet for Pontoons, etc... but i'd really like to have some high-end stuff... Thanks in advance for any help...

For outdoor use on boats, get a full loop tightly woven Olefin fiber carpet. Olefin is sunfast. Most boating carpet will have a dense foam backing.

I bought the carpet off the roll at my local MM store and had a canvas shop cut, bind and install. It seems the local canvas shops do not have access to the OEM carpet SR uses. Why these shops can't get similar grades of carpet, I'm clueless.

I found OEM carpet at Lowes! Around 7$ per yard. Exactly the same stuff that came out of mine.

If you use a high density, cut loop, plush nylon, you will get good life and little or no traffic patterns. Nylon is the leader when it comes to avoiding wear patterns.

Thank you all for your comments. I did find a marine grade nylon carpet with a nice patern in it:



I got this one for 55.00$ per yard (96" wide). I also received a quote for the original Olefin carpet for the Sea Ray at 145.00$ per yard (144" wide), needless to say that they can keep it, and besides, this carpet actually looks nicer for my taste...
