Hello..

I might need to replace my battery charger on my 240DA 2001 and I have two lead batteries. Any recommendations/experience on a brand?? I dont need a inverter just a charger with the smarts to know when to stop full charge and begin trickle charge..

Feedback are welcome!!

Thanks

Alex

I just replaced mine with a ProMariner ProTechi Series, and so far, I have been very happy. (Exact model I have is ProTech1240i PLUS, but I have 3 dual battery banks) I also liked the fact that it came with a drip shield since I think it was a drip from my engine hatch cover that may have caused the failure on the old one.

I bought it at West Marine- after some research, they had just about the best price.

Is yours a ProMariner Flyback now?and doesn't work?

The Charles 50A charger was selected to maintain the six group 31 batteries on my 2000 380DA.

It works very well and I'd recommend this product.

Pro Mariner and Charles are supposed to both be very good. Just Ducky has a Pro Mariner and it has been faultless. A friend's 2005 Sonic has a Charles that failed over this weekend. I'm withholding judgement on Charles until I hear what the factory is going to do about supporting his unit. He lost a day on the water because his batteries were dead.

Best regards,
Frank

The reason I asked about if your unit was a ProMariner Flyback 20-3 is because when I bought my boat it was dead and ProMariner offered me a new charger at 1/2 off of retail.
I took advantage and purchased the Promariner ProNautic 1240 and a remote display.
Here's that thread.

Todd.

Thanks for the heads up.. I keep the will check the brand of my charger in the next few days.

Thanks

Alex

Todd..

I did take a look at my charger and its the old pro mariner. When you replaced your old charger, did you use the existing cables from the harness (which are very short) or did you run new cables with fuses to the batteries.

I did use the existing. Yes there wasn't much extra, but if you peel back the smurf tube there was a fold in the wire over itself and just enough to reach. If yours doesn't have enough, run a new wire, I wouldn't recommend splicing it.

Did you contact ProMariner?

I have not contacted ProMariner.. Im in S. Florida and I was getting ready for Hurricane Ike.. If you don't mind me asking, how much did ProMariner bill you (charger and remote display).

Thanks for the feedback on the wire issue.
