the windlass will go down but no motor operation when in up position.

dash switch tests good

I assumed it was the relay pack and replaced it. Still no up.

so do I need a new motor? I would think if it could go in one direction it would go in the other but I don’t see any other parts to replace at this point.

Can someone help ?

thanks

So you replaced the relay up near the windlass and it didn’t fix it? I had to clean mine, no up, finally realized it had melted slightly, and the relay was no longer making contact. Fixed that, all good for 3 years now. If you try to go up vs down, but take the anchor and chain off the windlass, so no load, does it work both directions? If not, and you go to the relay with a voltmeter, are you getting 12 v when someone presses the up button, then 12 v when someone presses the down button (other wire)? This is 12v going to the windlass, so should be big thick red/black cable.
From there, are you hearing a click in the relay when pushing the up button, compared to pushing the down button (should also hear a click), this is the same as testing voltage before the windlass. Also, switch the wires short term, this way you get up but not down, and up is the one you want...

Thanks everyone, I found the solution so I wanted to post it here. The new relay pack that I was shipped appeared identical to the original but it’s not.

after taking a bunch of reading as described above and a few of my own I determined that the black and white and green wires that connect to the bottom edge are not in the same order.

the original went black, white green from left to right. The new order is White black green.

Go figure, but at least it’s working again now.

Now I have another question to post
