Hi,
I bought a 2001 270 Sundancer in the spring and am getting ready for winter storage. I was going to shrink wrap but am considering buying one of the covers advertised online. Shrinkwrapping will cost almost $300 but if I can get good cover for 600 or so it would probably be worth it.

Anyone have any luck (good or bad) with the prefab winter covers sold online?
Thanks

I doubt you'll find a cheap cover for that boat. Try your local canvas guy and see how much he will make a winter cover for. If you plan on keeping the boat for more thab four years it will pay to have a cover made.

I think these are the best winter covers made. Mine cost about $700 a few years ago. Great protection for the boat and wears like iron. They probably have a template for your boat, they did for mine. www.fishercanvas.com

I too bought my Fisher Canvas several years ago. Still holding up. Plus I throw a plastic tarp over it for extra protection.

Was that for your 330? My how times have changed ..$4k for my 340 (37ft class 4 cover)

It was for my 225WE, and it was a while ago. I asked them about a similar cover for my 330DA two years ago, and I don’t think the price range they were talking about was close to $4K at the time. They also said for the bigger boat they would recommend making it in two pieces, especially if I wanted the heavy canvas, and they also could make it from lighter materials. In my experience, the heavy grey cotton “duck” canvas is a great material for this purpose. It handles the wide seasonal changes in temperature and humidity and breathes. I actually had my 225WE stored on land under the Fisher cover for the past three years and just re-launched it a few weeks ago. The cover did a great job of protecting the boat through all the seasons over that period, and the cover is still showing no signs of wear. I would have pulled the trigger already for my 330DA, but my wife keeps talking about getting a bigger boat, so I keep shrink wrapping the 330DA thinking this will be our last year with it.

I like the idea of a cover since it's more environmentally friendly....
We purchased a Fisher Canvas for our '88 340ec (I think is was about $2,500+) about 8 years ago and the fit is perfect. We haven't used it in recent years only because the canvas is very heavy - 110lb+ and difficult to get on the bow once on the hard. Looked into getting a lighter version, but that was pretty expensive though they did offer a discount for a reorder. They also offered to split the canvas we have and install a zipper. Now we're trying to decide if we should sell the canvas and get a lighter version or just get it split.
Does anyone out there have the lighter fisher cover? If so, any reviews, pros, cons? Thanks!

I have the lighter one and love it, I do put it on my boat by my self.
I have a 34' boat.
