I'm "electrically challenged" and hope someone can clear my confusion!

The "shower sump/air conditioner" drain bilge pump needed to be replaced. I bought an identical unit from Jabsco. It calls for a 5 amp fuse and the pump draws 4 amps. That is exactly the same as the pump it is replacing. The pump connects to a 3 amp Klixon circuit breaker on the bilge pump circuit breaker panel.

Shouldn't that circuit breaker be 5 amp? How can the pump get it's 4 amps through a 3 amp breaker without tripping it or am I totally clueless, which is the likely answer?

Do I still need to install a 5 amp fuse inline even though there is a 3 amp breaker?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

If it is already fused over fusing wont hurt but is not entirely necessary.

klixton breaker rated 3A for constant use probably has 5-6 tripping amperage (should say on back of breaker)
breaker will run warm/hot but wont trip with about 4 A current draw
