    Re: Official 280 Sundancer Thread

I think they are pretty close, comparing to the 4.3's. I think the real difference is,
twins have better handling at the dock, the weight is spread out and makes it a little less rocky, you can limp home if something goes on one engine, twins cost a little more in maint, but not a whole lot more. I think it has more to do with where you are boating and what kind of boating you are doing.

There's been a ton of discussions about all of the packages and they're all good, It's just a matter of preference.

Like mine, your boat will perform well, it aint now screamer, but it will do a fine job. It is however very sensitive to a dirty bottom. Your performance will fall off very very noticeably with any amount of growth. Keep it clean and she'll do fine.

I am looking to upgrade to the 280SD with tiwn 4.3's and 240 hrs. I am concerned about the power. Does anyone have feedback on power/performance. no skiing, but normally 6-8 people with gear. thanks for the info

By SD I assume you mean DA? SD = SunDeck, DA = Sundancer. slip mate of mine has the twin 4.3's and never has any complaints. They LOAD that boat every weekend like a Chinese junket and only when they hit the 9 or 10 people loads do they really struggle.

If you do mean a 280SD then I have no useful contributions to your search.

I have had 10 adults with gear for the day and actually really didn't notice a huge differance. I was expecting to have to move gear forward, work the trim tabs, etc... I was pleasantly suprised that I didn't have to do a thing, the 280 performed like a champ, gotta love her!!!!

BTW, I have the 4.3's with Alphas.

Just wondering do you think you would have the same results with a 7.4 ?
