    Re: Official 370 Sundancer thread

Well I gave a bit of a run at the 370 refit repower thread, but I am the only one contributing. So I'm shutting it down and will post here only.
To that end, I finished the salon flooring and have many pics and tips for the project. The link is a couple of posts back.

    Re: Official 370 Sundancer thread

I have finished the salon floor. Big project, but not too taxing either financially or skill wise.
Pics with no explanation here: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/dpxty9q0o...wnXdu-69a?dl=0 (hint hint, Gene for 370sundancer.com)

I plan on putting together a post about the project and the things I found along the way, including Jonnycorners for the hatches, and flextrim for the landing to the mid cabin.
4 boxes of Allure did the job, with a bit left over. That's less than 200.00! Had I been more careful cutting out the hatch portions, it might have gotten done in 3 boxes.

I finally found it today. For anyone else that's looking in the future, it's mounted on the backside of a padded panel at the bottom left below the helm. Just below the old chartplotter. No to figure out how to interface wit with the C120...

Get a 3 pin sea talk cable of suitable length. Cut one end off and strip back to having a yellow, red, and bare wire (drain). Connect those wires to any spare set of red/yellow/grey terminals on the autopilot brain for sea talk. I would investigate the gyro 1 and gyro 2 connections. If that's not going to work, then you will need to get NMEA 0183 out of the C120 and connect to the nmea terminals. You are done.
This is an Autohelm piece of equipment, right around the time Raytheon bought them out. I'll see what I can find out about the Gyro terminals and sea talk compatibility. Might not know how to look for position information there.

Another approach might be to connect the C120 to the Autopilot head unit. They both have Sea Talk, but with different connectors. There is probably a cable to do this, or you can make your own. The autopilot head has the autohelm round 3 pin connector, and the C120 has the moon shaped 3 pin connector.

Great info and thanks also for the link to the manual. I think you're right in that using seatalk connections to link them up is the way to go. Actually your thought to connect to the back of the autopilot head was also my first thought. There's an open seatalk moon shaped port.

But my issue is that the only seatalk port on the C120 is being used by the GPS receiver.

Can I just spice into the seatalk cable that's connected to the 120 for the GPS receiver?

Or maybe just get one of these to make it cleaner than a cut/splice?

It's time to draw a diagram of the components you have, and what bus they are using, and how they are connected.

Problem is 2 out of three devices only have one Sea Talk connection. You could use the SeaTalk 1 connection block with 3-way splitter or get the NMEA out cable from the C120 (4 pin round connector at the bottom left) and connect to the course computer that way.

If you have the wire lengths, you could move the GPS receiver from the C120 to the Sea Talk input that your Raychart used to occupy on the 100 computer. Then, connect the C120 to the spare port on the Autopilot 650.
Sea Talk does not mind cut and spliced wires if done well. The 3 plug bus should also work.

Exactly what I'm thinking. Going to try it later this week. I'll post the results.
