    rough idle/stall

experiencing rough idle and intermittent stall. Changed plugs, cap and rotor (all looked like originals-currently 250 hrs). Seems inconsitent at idle but once rpms increase over 800 all is fine. Any adjustments possible? Thanks

no adjustment. check compression, maybe iac motor is sticking closed some. If it is sticking you would have to pull elbow to access throttle body, then pull throttle body off to clean and replace iac.

thanks all. Had her checked by my mechanic Saturday and he concurred. All cylinders firing fine. Any idea how much a job like this should cost?

$50 = $25 bucks to change it and $25 to show you how to do it next time.

    Re: rough idle/stall

Need some additional advice - Mechanic can't get to me until Sunday so I purchased the part after viewing the engine manual with hopes of replacing it myself. It appeared to be not too difficult but this evening upon attempting to remove the flame arrestor to get to the throttle body, I found that it (flame arrestor) was blocked by the large water exhaust hose running along side. So now, I need to figure out how to remove the exhaust hose so that I can get at the flame arrestor. Actually not sure of that is the correct way to go about it. The only other way I can see is to remove the riser and elbow assembly which is attached to the exhaust hose mentioned above.

If you are familiar with this or if you know of someone who may be, I'd be grateful for any input you may be able to offer.

Thanks much and have a pleasant evening.

    All the best,

    Mike

Be patient and pay the man who knows what he is doing. Like my dad always told me...never do another man's work. Doing it yourself can lead to more repairs than what it is worth to have someone come in to do what needs to be done.

They also have the onus on them if it does not work.

    Re: rough idle/stall

I just had mine done.......my mechanic sprayed WD-40 around the exhaust hose....and the muffler pipe.....broke the hose free....by running a hose tool around the muffler pipe.....then slid the hose back onto the muffler pipe.....that gave him JUST enough room to remove the hose....by sliding it forward up past the riser. IF the hose was cut 1" longer.....he would have had to remove the riser. So it depends on your application.

Then he removed the 4 bolts for the flame arrester....and the throttle body.....now the IAC motor was right there.....not hard to change at all.....there was only 1 electrical connection.

He was also concerned that the computer would not adjust the new IAC motor.....because of a default code......but that was not the case.

Unfortunately I need more then a new IAC motor........my fuel rail is not holding fuel pressure.....and I may need to rebuild the high pressure fuel pump too.

    AAAHHHH....BOATS !!!!!!!
