Re: The big old 80's 340 owners thread

I'm not certain that I'll be around next Saturday - but man I'd love the training if I were. Keep me up to date with times and I'll see how my schedule turns out.

Initially, I was thinking about PM'ing you, but I think we have some newer owners on here so, I'll keep the discussion here.

    OK, question 1:
The hot water heater (engine side) - we might have a difference here as my is part of the closed cooling loop. Remember all the green stuff in the bilge because someone forgot to tighten the clamps when they installed the new one.

The hot water heater (freshwater side) - just open the hot water valves at the sink in the galley and head (till the pink shows up) and that should be it right?

    Question 2:
The AC - is this a simple as using the deck washdown, put the pink stuff into the thru hull above the waterline where the AC normally spits out and wait for it to come out the thru hull under the boat that is normally the intake or is there a bit more to it?

    Question 3:
Backfilling the midcabin bilge - Do you just dump the pink into the access right under the removable section of the midcabin birth or dump it down the shower drain till the pump fires and spits some pink out the side of the boat?

By the way, anything need to be done with the AC condensate line?

Thanks Jason! This would have been a really $hitty year without your help!

leave the engine side connected don't try to remove. This will be winterized when you do the engines

no, disconnect the fw in and fw out with a by pass. Do not put pink in your how tank. Two valves and drain the tank that's it.

    it really is that simple

I use the wash down hose from the back deck and back flush the bilge from the through hull. You can hear the bilge pump kick on then simply remove the hose. Usually two flushes and I feel safe.

the condensate line should be empty just by the down hill drain. I have never done mine.

Mike, as always I enjoyed every second of it. Even though the beginning was tough. Happy to help with anything let me know. I'll keep you posted on Saturday.

    Mike,

Same principle as the AC... flush water back through the through hull for the mid cabin bilge. There's two through hulls on the part side forward of the exhaust. Farthest fwd is AC. Mid ships is the mid bilge.

Jason, you didn't spend enough. You'll need to find a "Marine" wiper blade and spend 14x that. How dare you!
