Was thinking the same thing, but alas, they are there! Looked a little today but didn't feel like pulling all the covers, so I'll chase the wiring sometime this week. I believe it's a bilge heater system of some sort.

If you don't have the QS owners manual, I have that in PDF too. Parts for Techs won't have that but you may have it on board with your SR briefcase.
Ron I read your Sandy thread, WOW! Sorry, that really sucks! Thanks for the filter info, I entered it into my Boating Suite App.

I made it to the storage facility and got the owners packet off the boat. I found the Raritan manual which covers 19a, 45 and 48a models.
From the pictures, I can tell it's not the 19a (wide/short). It looks as though the 48a is a progression from the 45.

I'm going to try to get a hold of Raritan to see if the 85 is in fact the replacement.
I'm thinking about replacing mine with another refrig. We spend a lot of time of the hook, so it doesn't really help us. Any interest?

Questions? The forward compartment under the v-berth, that's behind the drawers, has a sticker that says do not store heavy items in this locker. Does anyone have experience with this locker? What is the weight limit? Anyone have a good use for this compartment? I wanted to put a water tank there, but I'm concerned it will damage the hull.

Confirmed it is a 110 volt bilge heater system. The thermostat control is mounted high on the transom and was manufactured by Honeywell. I believe I will remove the system, epoxy all the screw holes, and install a modern bilge heater that won't explode my boat!

Re: The big old 80's 340 owners thread

I'm back and I'm in need of two things. I decided to rebuild my boat after last years mishap. I'm missing the aft cabin hatch that covers the bilge access to the head system. If someone is parting out there 340 dancer or knows someone who is please pm me or email me at keiththecop@aol.com.

Also what refriedgerator have people replaced with. I want to both not just 110.

    Thanks

WOW! I'm sure that was a tough decision, but we love our 340 and I know you loved yours too.

Our 89 340 DA has a Tundra. I'm not sure if it's original or not. I can't wait to see the pictures of the rebuild.

Re: The big old 80's 340 owners thread

Our 340 dancer is at the yard and things are getting a little pricey.
First, we hit something in the river a few weeks ago and experianced a bad vibration afterwards. When we had it surveyed last year they noted that the port prop was out a little. Well, I dinged the SB prop to make a matched set. Thomas Marine Propellers is putting the propscan whammy on them. Steve said they were in bad shape, no cup, no balance, pitch was wrong, etc. There was almost nothing right about these props except that the metal was in good condition. We should get 15-20% better fuel economy when we're done. I've heard the propscan is the way to go and Steve says it'll be like a new boat, so I can't wait. The advertised size of the props is 17 X 17. Steve says they are never actually 17 in diameter, but usually 16 7/8 or so. Since mine have been repaired at least once before, after the repair they will be 16 1/2" X 16 1/2" (actual). I'll let you know how this works out. BOAT B

Then, the stripping was in horrible shape after sitting in an open slip for several years; so that had to go. Of course, since we just bought the boat in Aug 2012 we still needed the new name put on too. BOAT BO

Next, the packing was leaking pretty bad so I wanted it replaced while she was on the hard or upgrade to dripless. I'm opting for the dripless. It just seemed like the right thing to do. I can't wait to have a dry bilge. Our pump was running way too much. BOAT-BOAT

    Ouch!
