Removing the hatch lift motor from rod

Hello everyone, My hatch lift stopped working and so I removed the entire motor and rod that it mounts too. I can't figure out how to remove the motor from the rod so that I can take the motor in to be rebuilt. Has anyone removed the motor and if so what in the world is the trick?

    Thanks
    Steve

Steve, I just helped a buddy do this on his 380 about 3 months ago. Instead of repairing, he replaced it with another one that he found on a website for about $200 bucks. If you're interested, I'll contact my buddy and get that website for you

Playing Hell trying to get the motor off the shaft. My mechanic tells me that it won't come off. There has to be some kind of trick to this stupid thing.

    Please help
