The seat upgrade is a good thing to do and am very happy that I did. I'm not 100% sure what you mean about removing the headliner. There was a cover over the base plate, but off-hand, I don't remember how it was affixed. I did remove myself though and don't recall it being an issue. What would have been an issue was removing the base plate itself. It is not the same size as the new base plate. I started to remove, however after taking all of the very long screws out, determined that the base plate was also glued to the floor and it would have been a mess to remove. After scratching my head for a second, I decided that the existing base plate was firmly in place, put the screws back in and attached the new base plate right on top of the old. I had the folks at the marina ream the holes to attach. The setup looks fine (no one would know) and the seats aren't going anywhere.

Thanks Paul, I guess I was assuming that the base plate was through bolted, which would require getting to the nuts from inside the cabin ceiling, thus removing the headliner. But if you say you got the bolts out with out getting inside, I guess my assumption is wrong. I'm going to the boat on Friday and I will check things out fully. What you did is what I think I'll do if I can not remove the old baseplate. Or like I said I will have an adapter made.
