Re: 87 340DA Stern heavy
Question? The guy at the yard says the old tabs are trimmed away (45 deg) from the prop tunnel. However, it looks like the new ones mount further up so that the bottom edge is about the same spot as the end of the 45 deg angle. He was also a little concerned about the turn down next to the prop tunnel. I'm guessing that since it mounts further away from the prop tunnel that the turn down won't get caught in the prop wash?
Thanks in advance

Re: 87 340DA Stern heavy
SeaRay did have us make Trim Tabs that were cut away at an angle on the inboard edge. I suspect that they were originally used on I/O powered boats in order to keep the Tab from interfering with the drive, and then they used them on inboard powered boats. I have not seen any issues with Trim Tabs being mounted close to the propeller pockets.

Re: 87 340DA Stern heavy
Tabman the new tabs work great. I was out this weekend and the new trim tabs completely cancel out the new swim platform. Her cruising additude is perfect and I'm cruising a 25 mph SOG with 3500 rpms. This is 200 rpms less for the same speed. Of course, that could be because of the bottom paint which the boat really needed but the tabs really helped. I still need them all the way down when cruising, but like I said I could always add a little weight to the bow.
Anyway, thanks again for all your help!

Rob,
That's great news! I am delighted I could help!

P.S.
If you take the vise grips off the platform you might pick up a bit more speed :)
