Re: 300 Sundancer questions.
When I did the Keys trip my numbers were the same as what your seeing. These boats average at cruise 1.1 to 1.3 when loaded for trips.

Re: 300 Sundancer questions.
Bill,
I would say the "fuel used" calculations from the smartcraft were pretty accurate. Prior to your most excellent help changing my fuel sensors, I tracked how much fuel I had left or had used by using my last known gallons used values at previous fill up. (Now that you told me how to reset the gauges, I may start using your method!). But anway... I try not to stuff my tanks to the point of spitting fuel out the vent, but I would say that using the fuel used calculations gave me a pretty good target on how much fuel I expected to need. There is always a generator-burned wild card factor on the starboard tank, but that's not smartcraft's fault. I never really paid attention to the mpg.

300 Sundancer questions.
Hi Rcon
Bow down, not necessarily so. The idea is as little boat as possible in the water.
Less Hull contact = Less Friction/Drag = Less power to propel the boat.
But there are comfort things here to consider as well, being able to see where you are going, sea conditions, so in a swell depending on which way you are going, into the swell or with it,
Into swell, I go bow down, with the swell, I go bow up. However I adjust each time depending on conditions.
So flat running, bring the boat up onto the plane, I normally have tabs down, and legs down.
When your up on the plane, leave the throttles where they are, and lift the tabs. Watch your speed and tacho's and listen to the engines, you should see the speed lift and you may even see RPM's rise, you normally will here a change in the engines as well as the load comes off them.
If you want to get max speed. You will probably find Tabs right up, then start slowly trimming the legs up as well, same deal watch Tacho's, speed listen to engines as well.
If speed starts to drop, engine noise starts to labour, RPM drops, then you have reached the point of too far, trim down a bit

300 Sundancer questions.
Ah well at least you got out.
We went from Summer to Winter at th star of last week. The admiral is laid up, I sent out 6 or mor invites yesterday, and all are busy.
Unfortunately just a bit too much wind here to risk pushing out and coming back alone.
