Very nice, however a little shopping and a little money for upgrades, will get you a previously enjoyed Sea Ray 560 that'll give you all that and more for alot less than half the price.

Large (57' ish) meridians, bayliners and carvers seem to be holding pretty high prices in my opinion

    Re: Meridian 541

There is a Meridian in our marina for repairs. It is smaller than the subject of this thread, but what I see on the planning, engineering and execution of these boats scares the heck out of me. The story: The owner had an engine problem, his dealer, MM, removed and rebuilt the engine but when it was returned, it had an overheating problem. After several tries at repairing the problems at his dealer, the owner brought the boat to our dealer for repair. The engine is 1-1/2" out of alignment (should be .003"), the sea water pump is leaking and has no vanes left on the impeller, and the compression on 3 cylinders is under 50 psi. Our marina doesn't want to fix it because the complete salon sole has to be sawed out to remove the engine, the alignment can't be done with the engine out and there is no physical way to get to the coupler to do the alignment and it takes a midget to remove the water pump. There is no warranty and the owner or Mercruiser has already paid for the repairs once, so its going to be difficult for our marina to make the guy happy and get paid for fixing his boat.

I guess the moral of this story is that there is a lot more to a boat than how pretty the ad photos are.

I agree with Frank and what he references lead us to move from a 4788 Bayliner to a 480 Sedan Bridge Sea Ray. After 10 years with the 4788, we said "enough".

In all fairness.....Searay has had issues too! Boat Hulls 1-20 might be mostly problem free and Boats 21-23 might have issues!!! I have seen it first hand where Searay and dealer gave owner a new boat to satisfy owner!!!!

    Re: Meridian 541

All builders have some issues from time to time, however, that doesn't excuse a design so poor that technicians cannot access the mechanicals for a rudimentary repair. Sea Ray puts a lot of systems in some pretty small boats, but I have yet to see one that couldn't be serviced. It might be painful, but never impossible as was the case with the Meridian in my post.

Franks is right as always but the new Meridian's are being built at locations where those past issues are being addressed for product improvements on a daily basis.

If any of you are serious about knowing more, please ask. Even though I bleed SR, I may know a little about this product too.
