First Century ride of the year, 2012
Well, I didn't start out to ride 100 miles today, it just sort of happened.
http://connect.garmin.com/activity/169213211
Considering that this time last year, I was still using a cane to walk, and 80 lbs heavier than present, not to mention recovering from my second artificial hip surgery, I would like to say this:
No matter how old you are, no matter how overweight you are, you CAN improve yourself. With an incurable arthritic disease, two artificial hips, and RA, I've lost 98 pounds, and now have cycled over 2630 miles since the 1st of January. Make no excuses, just do it.Scott of the most excellent Sea Ray "Destiny".

Re: First Century ride of the year, 2012
Scott, that is iincredible! It would take me a few days to ride that far but as I have stated before, you have been an inspiration and I have lost 15 pounds since the end of February and have another 5 I would like to see gone. Now, the bicycling part is something I do want to try to see if my back will handle it. Now I have to drop and do some situps and pushups to keep on top of it!

I don't know, my sacroiliac joints are not happy with me right now. My legs could probably handle a 24 hour ride, but I don't think my butt could. I am having cortisone injections within the next couple weeks, we'll see if that produces the desired effect.

I would be more worried about hurting my taint that my sacroiliac. I hear tell that erectile dysfunction is a side effect of too much time on a bike.

Re: First Century ride of the year, 2012
Old wives tale.....I've literally been on the bike every day for about a year now, having put in 4500 plus miles last year, and over 2630 this year and am as vicarious as ever. Don't concern yourself about it, it is far more likely that our president was born in Kenya than for cycling to cause E.D.

If its humming it probably won't last much longer anyway. I don't think there is a fix for a low voltage transformer humming that I have found. Whack it with a hammer maybe? I always just replace...
