We just finished a 750 mile trip to the North Channel and used 770 gallons of diesel. We cruise at 2400rpm making 20-21kts and slow cruise at 1000rpm around 7.4kts. We spent most of our time in the North Channel at 7kts. I had expected a little better but we were loaded very heavy and had a couple travel days in 3 to 5' seas. We moved up from a 330 Dancer 2.5 years ago and have no regrets with about twice the boat and better economy.

I also run at 2200 rpm's, get 24 - 25 knots and burn 24 gallons per hour. This is over 9 seasons with the boat.

The thread discussing 32 gallons per hour so far is on different boats, or the same blocks but different ECM's (480 CE's) which will not have the same results.

The built in vacuum on our '97 40' Sedan Bridge doesn't seem to have much suction power......I've changed bags (though I used a smaller/shorter bag - the neck fit the cannister) with no noticeable change.

Any tips if I've missed something will be greatly appreciated by the Admiral.

    Thanks

    Hi,
I have a 2001 with the same engines. I pretty much cruse at 2200 to 2300 between 23 to 25 knots. I find that my fuel consumption with the genny running averages 23gph I think that is the sweet spot for these boats with the Cummins motors.
