Panasonic speaker grills
Hi Does anyone happen to know where I can get a replacement grill for this 6.5 inch panasonic/clarion speaker. Or happen to want to sell one or 4. They are on a 04 Sea Ray Sundeck 220. Thanks

Re: Panasonic speaker grills
Sorry, I don't have any for sale, but I have a question. How do you remove the grille? I have a damaged speaker, and since it might be repairable I don't want to damage the grille taking it off. Thanks!

Re: Panasonic speaker grills
DT -turn clockwise to remove the cover - it can be difficult at times so have a small screwdriver handy to help get the cover over the plastic lips. best bet might be to check ebay for replacement cover but I would recommend you upgrade all 4 speakers anyway with a nice JL Audio set.

Re: Panasonic speaker grills
Wow, thanks for that info. I would have broken the grille for sure prying it off. I hear you about the JL speakers. I had them on the boat I just sold, but with the cash outlay of the new boat, I have to be selective on what upgrades I make. Right now all speakers are working and they sound pretty good, so I'll stay with the Panasonics for the time being.
BTW, are you sure it's clockwise and not counterclockwise? Usually when removing it's counterclockwise....Last edited by Danny Troy; 10-25-2012 at 08:49 AM.

Re: Panasonic speaker grills
It's clockwise. I have 4 of them I just removed. All are in good conditon and sound fine. I upgraded to JL Audio speakers and a 660 watt Polk Audio amp. Shoot me a PM and we can discuss price/shipping.

Re: Panasonic speaker grills
Oh, I just realized you already answered my question in the 280 thread. CW it is. I'll let you know if I need any speakers. I will attempt to repair the damaged speaker for now.

Re: Panasonic speaker grills
gerrtb, I have 340 with panasonic EASA 16PX86A1 Speakers, I need to get the one in the radar arch out to run cabling. How in the heck do you get the grill off. I see a slot in the bottom of the grill but I tried prying there and it would not pop off. I have read your post, do I turn the grill? This thing doesn't want to come off. a detailed description would be GREATLY appreciated.

Re: Panasonic speaker grills
If it's the same speakers as the 280 you turn clockwise to get them off. It's not easy and you will have to put some muscle into it. I was thinking about making a simple tool to be able to do it without effort. Funny, they really should have made it CCW to remove, as you would to remove or unscrew most things.

Re: Panasonic speaker grills
These pictures should help. Note the tabs on the speakers and the 'slots' on the cover. Only come off one way (unless you break the tabs).

A lot of plans are getting changed this week end due to the high winds. We has 8 boats headed to the Sasafras today and that's a wash. Probably head south to the Horse Farm tomorrow. Even with 25kt...
