TRIM TROUBLE with Sea Ray 175 Sport

Just took a newly purchased 2003 175S on the water today and unfortunately couldn't get the trim to work at all...had been functioning previous. All other power functions were OK. Is there a manual trim control or only the primary one on the gear shift? I had to load my boat with the motor down....not good. HELP!

    Frustrated!

In addition to the trim control up/down button on the throttle, you have a trailer position switch somewhere else on or near the throttle. My 175 is a lot older than yours, but it is a small discrete button on the lower right-side of the throttle mounting area (not on the lever itself). On my 280DA, I have a momentary toggle switch labeled "Trailer".

The trim solenoids are known for failing. But they usually don't fail instantly, and they usually don't fail at the same time. You'll have to troubleshoot in the driveway.

I know if my trim UP solenoid did not work, I would not be able to pull my 175 out of the water without disconnecting the trim cylinders and hoisting up and tying off the outdrive!

You may have the single trim/trailer button on the handle. Were you instructed to push the trim button on the handle extra hard to get it to go in further and take the drive to the trailer position? If you didn't try that then give it a try. Could be your trim limit sensor is bad and the system thinks the drive is all the way up to the highest operating position. In that case normal trim operation (pushing the button lightly) won't do anything.
