When you press the start button, all of the sensors are bypassed allowing the generator to run. When you release the start button, the sensors are back on line. if it does not continue to run, then one or more of the sensors are open. Manually bypass each of the sensors one by one to find out which one is defective or use an ohm meter to check each sensor for continuity. Have you checked the oil level? There is probably a low oil level sensor as well as a hi temp sensor. A bad impeller will result in high temp and not allow the genny to keep running.

The lack of sleeping space has a lot to do with why I have a 290DA now. With the prices you mention, I would jump on one provided the maintenance is right.
