    250DA tab swap

    Hey there Tom -

I am starting to gather the parts for a project when the weather cools and I was hoping for some feedback from you. I started to add the Auto Tab Control earlier this year when I discovered that the HPU is hard wired to the harness in my boat. I decided to wait since I wanted to go for larger tabs anyway and I have since decided to change out everything with a 249 tab kit (9 x 24 tabs, HPU, actuators and harness). Here is what I think that I have:

    Original Current Planned
    Tabs 12 x 12 12 x 12 9 x 24 (249)
    HPU Bennett Bennett Bennett (249)
Harness Sea Ray Sea Ray Bennett (249)
Switch Sea Ray Bennett ES2000 Bennett ES2000
Tab Retractor None Bennett AR512 Bennett AR 512
Auto tab control None None Bennett AC3000

Would you do anything differently that what I am planning? I plan to get the 249 from BOE.

Are you having issues with the factory tabs? So I can not add the auto control to my factory tabs?

Hi there LK - The auto tab control is designed to use the HPU connector which is gone on my boat. I'm not sure whether this was done at the factory or whether this occurred later. It would have been easy to cut the connector from the ATC harness and hard wire it also but I decided to wait since I was planning to upgrade the tabs. I am hoping that 50% more tab surface will give me a bit better response than the OEM tabs provide. I'll provide you some feedback when I do the project and test it out.

    Phlorida,

It sounds good to me. I would have probably just bought the new Trim Tabs and reused the rest of the system since its only since it's only 17 years old :)

Yes SeaRay has been using there own harnesses for may years and the ATC can be installed as you mentioned.

I am looking forward to hearing about your upgrade, please post some pictures as you do the work!

I had a 250 with the bravo 2 and had no problem getting on plane or response. It looks like you dont have the right prop on there it looks way to small. You should be running a 17X23. What is on there now?

Hi GLP, I'm not sure how I missed this so here is a three month delayed response. The propeller is a 17.25x23. It probably looks small because of the angle of the outdrive in this picture.
